The soft start has also arrived in France. There is a risk that all the parts will be here ready for the weekend, and I won’t be.

The soft start has arrived. What do I need to do to modify it BB3 stylee? Take the black thermistors out, carefully I'll send a pic of how to mod it tomorrow. You need to keep two in good condition.

What size are the holes in the PCB? I think I may need some bigger standoffs.
I forgot to measure them, and I am now at work...

BB3 soft start mod complete. I have also tinned the RCA sockets up, as they are quite beefy, so I need to break out the big iron for this job. Now I just need the case, and a bit of time to make some holes in it.

The case arrived today. I am thinking of the pictured layout, but need to finalise the position of the power switch etc. I think the soft start will be turned through 90 or 180 degrees to make feeding the power switch easier.

I have fitted the power switch. I always dread this, as it is a big hole to drill.
It has dawned on me that I probably need a different switch, as this one has a 12V led. Not sure if I can find 12V DC (or lower) anywhere suitable in the case.
It will do for now though.

I also put an extra 1k resistor in and it stops the LED beaming!

It should look good when finished. The Traffo is securely mounted, the PCBs are mounted. Tomorrow I need to fit the RCA sockets, MM/MC switch, earth connector, and wire up the power. Special note to self: I need to earth the Soft Start, HV central connector, traffo, and IEC inlet

I like the clean simple look, very rare I would go with something blingy, there are exceptions of course, nearly there now though, will it be worth the time and effort?

I had about an hour free, so I have fitted the RCA sockets, MM/MC switch and earth post to the back panel. All I have left to do now is to wire it up.

As this uses a 50VA traffo, I am assuming I can use something as low as a 0.315A fuse?, which gives me a 50% overhead for inrush. This seems a little low to me, and I think it is likely to blow?

The more I look at the case sat on the rack, the more I think it need a tasteful logo on. Not sure to go for a full on BB sticker, as this is a DIY version, or some discrete text similar to what is on the front of my 686.
I also need to lose the stainless bolts, but I think I have some black ones kicking about.

Replacing the bolts with black ones is a good idea.

Another question, I assume that the loading plugs are kind of in the signal path, so should I also use decent cable here?
