Thanks folks, had a 4 hour sesh with them today for the first time since they were finished (badges excepted) and I am very pleased with the sound. I did add some more acoustic foam inside to cover the cabinet bracing and they sound better than before for it, with a better bass response. To my ears anyhow, so the sound is nicely tied together through the High to Low frequencies as far as I can tell. So far, the middle bottom is winning in the badge stakes , I'll try them with some blu tack in different positions to see first though before gluing. Checking back, I bought the drivers in 2016 so only 6 years to completion...... Still, worth the wait and fun to do - with a big wood themed learning curve in it. Also, big thanks to Paul Coupe from RFC, not only for supplying the cross overs but also giving me some great advice on the cab structure, bracing etc to help with the final sound quality. All freely given and without any hesitation on his part. So a summary of the build - Tannoy HPD 295a drivers
Xovers designed by RFC , caps and resistors upgraded by me (same values etc)
18 mill ply cabs with double thickness tops, baffles and bottoms
Fronts, sides and back tied together with 38*38 mil battens, spaced unequally to prevent standing waves in the cabs.
Cabs lined and damped with 4 mil self adhesive Tecsound acoustic membrane with acoustic foam on top for damping
Cabs veneered in Teak with solid Walnut beading.
Baffles veneered in Maple
Feet in solid mahogany (old chairs upcycled!)
Finished with 4 coats Liberon finishing oil and so far 1 coat Liberon Bison wax (I may do another coat as it doesn't take long)
Gonna have to weigh a cab now to see what the weight is!
Now I just need to decide on whether to start my power amp or Lenco project.....check back in another 6 years!

Excellent, Dave's front bottom gets my vote, too.
And well done for going the RFC route for the xover and cabinet structure. Paul really does know how to get superior results from Tannoy drivers imo.
