Thanks , couple of things I need to sort before deciding on what stands. I am going to put a plinth underneath to house the xovers, not sure how high yet , about 10 cm probably.

Some more listening tonight, the bass is starting to kick in and they are starting to sound seriously nice. One of the reasons I got the RFC xovers is that Paul's custom inductors for the bass circuit improve the drivers bass response and I think its starting to show. 🙂 At the time I could afford those or better caps but not both, a wise choice (his words).
Don't know what the specs are but the FB monos are driving them effortlessly, only about 1/3 on the volume control and they are moving a good bit of air!

Eaton Legacy have 89dB sensitivity so with two of them you'll get 89db at two metres away with 1 watt of power. Plenty of headroom even with a very low power amplifier unless you like to listen at crazy levels.
I've always found the better the system the less you have to crank it up for it to be 'satisfying.'

by way of comparison a hoover at 1 meter is 80dB - and it's a logarithmic scale, so 89dB is properly loud.

A bit more tonight , I have thought for a good while that my speakers were holding back the best bits of the my TT , cart and BB3 and these are certainly proving that right. Enjoining them so much I might not get around to finishing them lol Just need to sort out the bottom plinth to hold the xovers and then some stands to get them at a better height. I should have done this years ago, well 4 to be exact....

Those Tannoys are certainly looking like a success and I'd definitely get them finished if I were you.

Kill two birds with one stone, cardboard box to put the x-overs in, stand speaker on top and you're done.

Some useful info in this thread re Tannoy height and position pinkfishmedia.net/forum/threads/new-v-old-tannoy-speakers.248253/page-4You don't need or want the tweeter at ear height and toed in towards you. Slightly off=axis is better. Plus the higher you raise them up the more bass you will lose. Worth listening to Cooky about this stuff, he knows Tannoys inside out. I went to his house to collect my drivers and crossovers, he had massive Tannoys in one room and massive JBLs (that he built himself) in the other.

Run a subwoofer test tone app through them today out of curiosity, starts to tails off at 40 hz and can hear a very faint noise at 30 hz . So not too bad.

Pretty good that is.
I always say if it will play flat down to 40hz in room then you're golden. You're guaranteed those satisfying lows.

Actually I just need to buy another subwoofer 🤣 Hahaha.... looking nice though. The absence of Tannoy from mynlistbof "speakers heard" is quite shocking to be honest. macca needs to hurry up and get his. He's close enough for me to invite myself over 🤣

Stick a pair on the end of your croft and I reckon you'll be sorted.

Got some finishing touches today, now I need to finish them! 😄 From a guy on Lenco Heaven who produces badges plaques etc. Made of brass and cheaper than a set of plastic originals.

Hi mate, cracking build! Also doing a wee DIY of my own right now. do you have any contact details you could send me for the guy who makes the badges? Would love a set of these plus maybe some plaques depending on what he does. Cheers, Peter.
