A long time ago in a shed far far away... I have shed and tidying it up remembered I had a bunch of birch ply cut up to make a pair of Tannoy Eaton-a-likes. 😎 I have some time this week and hope to resurrect them with a bit of glue, string and the odd rusty nail. It's only taken me 4 years to get this far 🤣🤣 as time has been swallowed by various other things. But, fingers crossed that I may have some carcasses by the weekend. Oh btw I have some HPD 295s and RFC xovers to muck about with too. So I just need to numpty around a bit and whistle up some nifty Tannoy stylee cabs. The drivers work fine but have been buggered about by someone trying to glue the dust caps back on. Somewhere deep in the recesses of the shed I have some spare cones by Lockwoods so I may even try and recone at some stage. But that is for the disant future! Anyways some pics of interesting wood stuff! For those Tannoy saddos thata re intwrested the tops, bottoms and baffles of the cabs are double thickness 18 mil ply. There will be some bracing sides and back with a smidgen of glue. Cheers

As am I 295's need care if you are tuning other than to the original design. Go too large and you drop efficiency and will affect frequency response (you get a rising slope bass to mids). Port tuning needs to be pretty spot on with those to avoid driver damage from over excursion. Give me a shout if you need any input.

Thanks Paul, I'm using the Eaton plans so the internal dimensions should be the same give or take a few mil. Think I worked out the port size to be 70mm diameter but not sure if I should allow for the double thickness baffle or that the overall length should stay the same as per the plans. Just saw your write up for the BB3, nice , glad you are so pleased with it. The new Fet boards make a big difference in my experience. Cheers EN.

You'll not need the gym if moving those about!
The port dimensions should stay as per the original overall length and same diameter. If any different, let me know and I'll give you the corrected sizes.

Thanks Paul, that clears up a question I've had in my mind a while, appreciate your input. Yes they're bloody heavy, and I have to put in a baffle, back and drivers yet. Anyway tried a dry clamp run , really chuffed to see that actually come in square! A major achievement in my book. If they didn't I had an excuse ready, something about a purpose built isometric cab design 😌 or some such😉

Glueing in this weather wasn't such a good idea , the open time is quite short! Still I couldn't wait lol.

Both cabs glued and actually square lol. Tha one on the left shows on of the back braces in place. Now I can start thinking about the backs and double thickness baffles. They already weigh a ton without them. 🥴 Think I'll need reinforced floors and stands!

Been distracted for a couple of months by Lenco things. But finally cut the panels for the backs and baffles. All slightly oversize so will need to trim to a more exact size with my router. 😎

Amazinh what lockdown boredom will make you do. Decided to hook these up for a small run out🙂. Only a gentle amount of volime, seem to remember reading that no cabs might not be too good for the driver.

Some of RFCs stirling work, with his own design inductors. Anyway , sounds good to me. A good incentive to crack on with the cabs, roll on sunshine!
