DCC - got to think they are getting pretty rare now.
I've still got a Sony DAT machine upstairs. Never used it.

Was in the garage looking for something and stumbled across my old CD player. Sounding good
OMG! I had exactly the same CD player, I had the full Technics stack that went with it as well, my first ever "proper" system.

Playing around this morning - decided to shift this arm on but thought I would give it another go on the SP10: Sounds very good for what it is but not using it so will move it on. (Put the SME V back on)

Hurrah - Had a change around today. Moved the music room from the sun room to the larger front room, the TV is now in the middle room and the dining table in the sun room. My speakers now have room to breathe and they are sounding awesome Had to make up some speaker cable (gone from 2 metres to 7 metres.....) but not an issue. Now looks like this: Some records waiting to be moved...... Just enjoying the new lease of life the new room is making with the extra volume of the room

Room looks fabulous gninnam and I can't see any speaker cables. You can see them - this will be addressed soon so they are hidden better but the SQ has improved no end

Looking fantastic Andy! Having that extra space will help so much. Is your wife happy with the reshuffle...?

Looking fantastic Andy! Having that extra space will help so much. Is your wife happy with the reshuffle...? Indeed it will - to be honest I sowed a little seed and she then went and ran with it so she thinks its her idea Just need to get some doors between the now music room and the tv room plus think about what to do with the fireplace (I would like to rip it out as its never used - as you can see, card is in the hole to stop the cats from climbing up it and reduce the draft......)

Noticed the strobe 'dancing' when set to 33 (whether it is rotating or not), on 45 a slight movement and solid on 78.
Any ideas what this could be?
A vid of what I mean plus me changing from 33, 45, 78 and back down again.....

Been a bit quiet on the western front.... A couple of changes and an audition has happened since the move to the larger room First one is a friend of mine has been hankering after a Michell Orbe but struggling to find one at the price he would like to pay. I suggested to him that he could borrow my JVC TT-71 turntable until he finds one (if he likes the JVC then he has the option to buy at mates rates) This was a week ago and waiting on his feedback to see what he thinks and if he would like to buy it! The empty space had to be filled so went into the garage and brought out my trusty and original Leak Lenco GL75 (been in the family since 1973) which before using will make sure everything is lubed etc (been in the garage for a good few years - I had carried out all the usual tweaks before - new v-blocks, fresh grease in the spindle and the motor recentered and greased up) - a pic or two: Also 'borrowed' Oli's pre production (test mule) BT2 preamp (can be seen below the TT in the first picture) and spent a few weeks trying to get rid of spurious electrical noises - ended up being the BT2 being to close to the BB3 (even with the BB3 being powered off, noises could still be heard through the speakers when the volume was cranked up high) Now moved a good distance from the BB3 and all quiet - still early days but so far so very good Hope to get the Lenco spinning in a week or so - currently has an Ortofon OM10 installed (I have mono and 78 stylus' so I can listen to some classical 78's I have which do sound very good...well they did when I listened to them 10 years or so ago!!)

I was thinking about this last night, and a thought occurred to me. (Andy and I have been troubleshooting for a week) That BB3 is in a wooden and perspex box...it's no surprise it's played up next to the BT2 proto. The Traffo in the BT2 proto doesn't have an electromagnetic shield, so it's just spewing flux all over the shop. The fact you have removed the issue with distance makes sense. Top marks for continuing to fiddle around with it all, and not throwing in the towel.

Slight change (until the Puresound A30 amp is sold), the Lenco has gone back in the garage while I use the A30 - sounding very nice too

Sold a tuner today which has been in the family since 1973 (I inherited it around 27 years ago) but as I never listen to the radio it seemed a shame to have it locked in the garage. Built like a battleship and I tested it before sending it off - sounded very warm and cosy

Got 3 freebies today (had to drive a 2 hours round trip): Only tried the Marantz CD player and the Technics Tape deck. Very impressed with the CD player - not bright at all and the tape deck, I used a tape I recorded music off a radio maybe 30 years ago and it sounded soo good so very happy with these two pieces

Got the valve amp back this week - sent it off to Guy (Mr Pure Sound) to fettle it and give it the once over - replaced a few valve and capacitors so working 100% A.OK. Got the tape deck connected and sounding very analogue indeed

Pulled out my Michell ISO phono stage (MC only) and it forgot how good it is. Very quiet and with the valve amp sounding vey nice indeed.
Will get some pics up tomorrow but I think most of us know what one looks like.

Nothing major to report. Sold the JVC TT-71 turntable with the 12 inch arm (I know I will regret selling it...) Just enjoying the tunes at the moment. Enjoy one and all

Puresound A30 just picked up by DPD so had some space on the rack. Pulled from the garage the Lenco GL75, bit of a dust and clean, reset the VTF etc then checked the speed (running a little fast using the detent but now rock solid at 33.3) and but a record on. Sounding really nice. Full and rich as they say. The GL75 has been in the family for exactly 50 years nearly to the day - was my mum's uncle's before coming my way around 25 years ago and still sounding sweet.
