Here's some photo's and description of what I currently have in the house. For speakers I am using a pair of Reiver Jenna's which sound very nice. First turntable is a Michell Orbe, using Pete's Pylons in place of the springs and the 3 legs resting on skateboard wheels. The arm is an SME V - I bought this last month and as soon as it arrived I sent it to SME to be serviced. The cartridge is a Goldring Elite. The phono stage for the Orbe is a Firebottle OPT MKII which sounds very nice. The Orbe still uses the AC motor and uses the QC PSU. My second turntable is a Lenco L75 in a birch ply plinth, fully serviced with a few tweaks, using a Linn Basik Plus arm and Denon DL103M cartridge - works very well together. This then feeds into a Cairn Boost phono stage. For digital duties I have an old Technics CD player (does sound good), the CD/DVD writer is for extracting CD's via my RPI to another RPI 4 running as a NAS and DLNA server For streaming duties I use a RPI4 with a IQAudio DAC+ and 7 inch touchscreen - still need to sort a box to put it in - running Volumio This connects to the NAS for stored music files and also runs Spotify and Tidal. Used as a power amp is a Pure Sound A30 (which I love). Used as a headphone amp and also as a pre is the little Myryad Z40 amp (again, a great bargain) A view of the whole shebang

Nice system - love the plinth on the Lenco, who made that?
I've always fancied Myryad gear, but have never quite got round to trying any. Skateboard wheels under the Gyro - how does that work?

Cheers - can't remember the guys name. I know he was on Lenco Heaven and AOS - think his name was Dominic. The Z40 pre/phono amp is a cracker to be honest. I bought it new a few years back for £90 and it certainly is value for money. Keep on meaning to try some of their other gear. As for the skateboard wheels. A few years back before Peter produced his pylons I was wondering what tweaks I could make to the Orbe and remembered some old skateboard wheels I had in the garage so I thought, lets see what happens if I put them under the Orbe. Well - I was surprised by what happened - what I heard was a big difference, the noise floor seemed to drop, the bass seemed more controlled and greater detail. Once Pete's Pylons were added then the SME V - well. I am in heaven

Thanks for the reply ~ any chance of a close-up of these skateboard wheels? I still can't quite envisage it!

Do you prefer the Brix Smith Fall era or the earlier Brammah / Baines period ? I'm a non Brix fanatic but the missus loves the commercial side that she brought to the group. 😐

Ah, OK, on their sides. I really did imagine the Orbe scooting around on a working set of skateboard wheels!

Currently working from home and gained some free time (saving 40 minutes a day from not travelling) and daylight lasts longer so thought I would do something for a bit of fun Went through the house and garage to see if I could come up with anything and I have an idea!! Found a started but never finished Lenco project, and an old preamp and part of a plinth that was used on one of my Lenco projects. Will also include a few other bits. Plinth Old door from a cupboard Unfinished Lenco project: Top cut to shape and the hole put in for the Lenco pan Pan in situ Platter now on Beauty ring fitted Need to dismantle the pre-amp and few other bits and then onto the next stage

Jimbo asked to see my Leak Lenco TT so here it is (been in the garage and not used for at least 6 years I think) looking a bit sorry for itself: Before being no longer used it was fully serviced but I noticed the arm has a slight droop so I will take the counter weight off before I put it away again. The cart is an OM 5E - picked as I was also listening to 78s at the time and got a 78 needle for it. It did sound very good to my ears.

The droop on the counterweight stub is pretty normal so don't worry about it.
Looks in very nice condition.

Thanks all - the plan is to keep it as is. I will eventually get rid of the droop using good 'ol dental floss - works well. I used to have about 5 (or was it 6) at one point but down to 4 at the moment (GL75's and 78's) Last one I gave away to my brother-in-law for his 50th (having promised my sister one drunken party or another that they could have the one I used for his 50th a few years before). Got hold of a Dynatron music centre with a GL78 in it - refurbished the 78 and cleaned up everything else. Found some old speaker cables and even gave him my old Heybrook HB1 speakers too.......... Sounded really good and I could have easily lived with it myself. A quick pic when I was first setting it up in their house.

Today found a few hours to sort out the mounting for the arm. Went for a hole as I found an old Rega RB300 in the garage and also the Michell Gyro arm mount plate so thought this would be good to use.Using a router made a hole big enough for the arm plate to go in then underneath made a plate for the arm to sit. Used a piece of MDF under the arm plate to lift it so VTA should be close. Can use washers to fine adjust it but this is only a rough and ready project! End result works pleasantly Ready for the next stage

Productive few hours his afternoon. Positioned the RPI and the pre-amp plus power switch and transformer - and we have power :cheesy: The pre-amp installed - may move it to the other side if it interferes with the tone arm. RPI positioned. Need to sort out the plinth seating then find the remote for the pre-amp (its in the garage somewhere but where.....).
