I've just got home alive, I have a small scooter (Honda Scoopy), just to get me around Phnom Penh, the roads are manic. Normally on a Friday night at 11.30pm coming home is a doddle, not tonight, and it's not even Cambodian New Year!

Today I moved my sub to the front instead of to the side. Not sure if it’s the upgrades done recently to the BB3 or the new Brimar KT88’s or maybe it’s the sub being in this position but! it’s all sounds excellent to my ears. It’s got to be the best I’ve heard for a while. Well worth the hours involved. C275EC22-E4E0-490C-BCE6-4D949A580903 by Nathan Rose, on Flickr I'm very chuffed your system is sounding excellent at present, but how many hours does it take to move a sub-woofer? Not just moving the sub. I mean hours making the BB3 psu box and moving it all about. Also soldering new caps into the BB3 I’ve been doing bits for the last few days. moving the sub only took 10-15 mins.

Today, just putting the finishing touches to the Wavedream NET's psu.
Spent a good few hours listening to a new mains cables design, realising that all that glitters is not purple, unless your a leading edge chap. Orange won out easily in the fuse department.
Some quality improvements to depth, trailing note decay and presence still has that liquid ease to the sound no conterbalanced over egged leading edge bias.
Sounding rather good, so far pleased with the effort.
Now off for a nice meal, and then Joolz's Hootananny!
Happy new year everyone

That's a relief Nuff, thought you must have put your back out moving the sub, after which it took hours to move. Pleased you've been keeping busy over the holiday season though, and 'modding' your BB3 should pay dividends.

...... hopefully I have finished painting the fire surround!
That's the third time I've done a full sand down, re-primered and two coats of satin wood.
I've brushed it, then wool rollered it and neither finish was satisfactory. If this one doesn't work....it's staying 🤣

spent most of day swapping kit around . trying to get the sonos to reconnect after having added one of those TP link mesh thingies . the sonos was not a happy bunny about that !
popped some class A monos onto the tannoys
popped some class D on the horns although normally that does not work . just got to acclimatise to the sound before the swedish component arrives to try with horns . They are VERY fussy speakers so we shall see

Went to a new year's eve party at a neighbour's house last night. The host prepared one of her famous quizzes which was great fun and split the men and women into seperate teams. The "boys" won bu one point and it would have been more had we been less well oiled LOL
Most folks went home around 1.00am but me and the missus stayed on for a chat - which ended at 5.00am!

Today I went to work (6-11) came home, got showered & changed ready for my mother's family soiree and stuck on some tunes whilst I read the forums. The plan was to leave around 2, drop my Icons off with a friend for onward delivery to Henry for repair and arrive at mums around 2.30. That didn't quite happen as I fell asleep in the chair and was awakened by my phone at 3.30 asking where I was and how long would I be, erm 40 mins I said. Was good seeing mum, my kids their partners and the grandkids, unfortunately I also had to endure the company of my sister and here progeny. 3 of the most deadbeat oxygen thieves you could ever come across, who act as though their sh1t doesn't stink, when in reality they are the best argument for euthanasia I have ever encountered, so 4 hours of biting my tongue ensued for mums benefit as at 93 time with her is now very precious.

Today I ignored the urge to spend money on HiFi, again…. <Northern accent> “It’s day 5 in the house, The housemates are gathered in the kitchen. Cagey still has not spent any money on HiFi. Is he feeling right?” <\Northern accent> Still not eaten any Haribo this year either. Another personal challenge. The amusing thing is I have just sold off some old stuff I am no longer using, and have enough money in the piggy bank reserved for toy purchases to treat myself to something nice…. I just don’t feel the need right now. Who knows when that will change…

Today had the engineer round to fit smart meters. Electric, no problems. Gas, nightmare. I had to remove a cupboard, bit of wall and worktop so that a lead pipe could be changed. By the time I had taken everything out engineer was off to the next appt. He is due back next week. Bit of a mess in the kitchen...!

They told me that they would have to install my smart meter outside and that it would be costing me a thousand quid.
Needless to say I suggested an alternative location they could install it in. Didn't go down well and negotiations sort of trailed off after that. They still send me text messages and e-mails about it though.
The way I see it it just makes you easier to cut off. The leccy from them isn't any cheaper so what's the gain for me?

Exactly. I am not ever having a 'smart' meter, if you have an iota of intelligence you can work out your consumption and adjust accordingly if you need to.

The bills are just more accurate and to be fair, our "leave the heating blazing" approach to the bills has changed. We've saved money by knowing more in a realtime monitoring kind of way.

My father would go nuts if you left a light on in a room or hallway. And I never once saw him turn the heating up, only down. 'It's costing me money!'
So I think I've always been frugal with that sort of thing ever since.

The wife and I are in a running battle....I turn up the thermostat everytime I walk past it, she turns it down....we've spent more on batteries than we have on gas 🤣🤣

We don’t have an adjustable thermostat. Solves that issue!

What is wrong with the people in the uk, still not wearing masks is asking for trouble, no wonder there are so many new cases of Covid everyday. Here in Phnom Penh, everyone wears a mask when out and about, you are not allowed in shops ect without one.

It would seem not in barbers shops where you are in close contact with another person.

That's up to the barber. If he doesn't want to turn away people who aren't wearing masks then that's up to him. As it should be.
The efficacy of masks is vastly over-stated anyway. Like putting a sieve on your head to stop the rain making your hair wet.
Their main purpose seems to be to give the holier-than-though brigade another stick to beat people with.
