Bespoke is just another method for adding a zero to the end 😉

Appreciate that but having looked all over there is nothing in the size I need that will fit the spaces and give me the maximum storage capacity I am looking for . So my wife wants the CD,s moved and out on show and I need to be able to do something I do not have the skills to make something myself and ready made is just not going to fit .

If most quotes are pretty much £1k+ then maybe have a word with Paul Knipe (knipster) of Solid sounds in Leeds. He does beautiful work and being a hifi nut you'll probably get a good price.

Today I returned the 9000CDT to Audio T in Portsmouth. It has become glitchy over the last week, stopping once or several times during tracks on some albums, with a 1 - 10 second gap before resuming from where it stopped. Yesterday I put one of the CDs it plays up on in my 1994 Technics SLPG-440A in system 2, it played right through with no problems. Stuck the CD in the 9000 and it stopped dead at 1:06 on my favourite track and took 12 seconds to resume, it also refuses to update firmware via USB as detailed by them on YT. They're going to run it in the shop and then send to Audiolab for investigation, in the meantime they've lent my a £2.4k Cyrus CDi-xr, just need to pop in tomorrow when go to mums and ask for the bloody remote (was a shop display model and I didn't check the box contents).

Well that's annoying.

lurch That's unlucky John, good of the shop to lend you another player, we all know problems can arise with electronics. Bet that Lector ran faultlessly.

I haven't had a firmware update since 1978.
It's a feature not a bug.

Have now had the Cyrus CDi-xr in the system 24hrs (been run continuously to 'burn-in') also picked up the remote this afternoon.
At £2.4k for the Cyrus I am not impressed, and then you have another £2.4k you could spunk on the upgrade PSU. For a £2.4k CD player I would expect a far higher level of SQ, even used as a transport via coax into the BI, its not a patch on the 9000CDT. Where the 9000 is detailed, expressive, tonally rich and coherent across the frequency spectrum. The Cyrus whilst detailed is to me tonally bland, it doesn't draw me in to the Music. The sound for me has closed in, the soundstage is much smaller in height, width & depth, congested almost. According to revues I've read the addition of the psu-xr opens up the sounstage, provides space and air and more extension, a £2.4k CDP shouldn't need another £2.4k box to make it sound decent. The Cyrus will do the job for the time being but I'm looking forward to the day I get the 9000 back in the system.

Nice one Robbie. It's always nerve-racking when we make a move, but great when it works out we were right.

If you’re going to wake up to an email, this is the one you want to wake up to. It’s not going change my life, just nice to help out the kids a little. £3.30

You could probably have 'won' that much just by digging you hand down the back of the couch.
Last place I worked I ran the lottery syndicate. £20/week on tickets for fifteen years, most we ever won was £170. I won't join it at the new place, they think I'm mad.
'But what if we win?'
Yeah good luck with that.

The lottery all seemed so easy when it first started, folks religiously checking their tickets only to be disappointed yet again. When I finished buying due to moving abroad I checked my tickets when I remembered.

I'd rather bet it on a horse or a football match, at least you have the excitement of watching the race or the game.

I scored a bunch of NOS 1% suflex styrene caps, 1n to 33n values, they all come up just under the rated capacitance by a handful of pf, which makes them perfect for doing a bunch of RIAA curves for Paradise builds as I've loads of 16, 33 and 50pf that I can pad them out with. Big order going in with TX components for a load of vishay naked foils this weekend.
And I've bought a new lcr meter

Well today was the first day it was warm enough to have breakfast in the garden . Open the French Windows in the music and allow the Quads do there trick of radiating sounds from the back . Much needed sunshine some cereal and great cups of tea . Cerys on the radio and Orchestra Boabab playing which always sounds better in the sun. Missed the sun this year and so glad to see it finally appear , hopefully this is signs of more to come and I can get a decent start on a tan before I go to see my brother in June at Cape Cod .
