Keep debating then....... No, you are banned. I warned you yesterday to wind your neck in, so instead you go on a xenophobic rant, knowing full well it would be not only hurtful to some of the membership, but entire unacceptable on every other level imaginable. The absolute lack of education you have displayed about WW2 and the decision the people of France had to make at that time, is entirely laughable and in keeping with your ridiculous behaviour. It is not welcome or wanted here. Take your Sh#t elsewhere.

Well said.
My partner of 20 years is half German and before her grandmother died we sat her down and recorded her memories of the war from a German perspective and it was horrific for the ordinary German people,
rations of over a third of what they where here. You cannot begin to imagine what it was like for the French too an horrific period for the whole world not just the Allies.
Though he can talk a lot of bollocks at times I'd like to think that Harrison was either pissed or did it for effect and doesn't actually mean what he wrote above and would hope in the future he can be allowed to
apologise and return.

Typical Jammy. You can tell when he's been boozing. No excuse for being obnoxious though.

Gentlemen,
As per the forum rules, we dont talk about other people here.
However I'll just say this,
Since the forums creation, Jammy/Harrison has made some really good contributions BUT Andrew, and I gave him chances to behave previously. Chances that were squandered.
After realising that Jammy had rejoined as Harrison, I gave him the chance to behave, but again, it seems that there is an underlying issue that makes him incapable of staying away from being offensive.
Jammy will not be allowed back. Enough is enough. I wish him well and hope he finds a spot online where he's more in line with the ethos.
Oliver

Enough sniffing around the jam pot!
Cartridges, another one that springs to mind is ZYX Universe II X a good friend of my brothers has this particular cartridge on his Brinkmann TT for vinyl it is a most agreeable sound, incredibly natural and just 'there' sounding

I like the ZYX models I've heard a lot, but the financial situation of 2008 seemed to give a great reason for audio manufacturers to jack prices through the roof, even if it wasn't justified. Such a bloody shame.

Dont know if they have been mentioned yet but I'm really enjoying my AT 150EA it's my first moving magnet in about three or four years and though it doesn't have the sparkle of some of the moving coils I've tried it is a great all rounder and can get the best from some not so great recordings that those moving coils would turn their nose up at.

The AT150 is also rather good, but I know you like the Ortofon sound, so I think you should try a 2M Bronze.

They are pretty good. The Mk IV being the best, if you can find one..... Mine is a Mk iii. Prices seem to be rocketing though.

I could be tempted by a technics. if any technics cartridges have the infamous rubber donut suspension dont bother, they turn to goo over time regardless of how many hours they have on them. the epc 305 i had was one of the best mc's ive heard,it was nos but sadly after a month the donut went soft and caused it to run low. a real shame.

How memories and feelings at the time can change...
In the mid 80's, we regarded the EPC 205 IIIL as thin, hard and 'toppy' and not much better than a then vintage V15 III. No doubt another reason why digital sources were disliked as our stereo's were so balanced up around beefy dull pickups (A&R E-P77/Rega R100/RB100/Karma/Troika/original Koetsu Red and so on as originally supplied). Martin Colloms loved the 205IIIL yet went with the coloured Koetsu Red instead (I remember he agonised over it in print back then) as I suspect the latter fitted in better with his growing 'Guru' status and subjectivist-only vibes taking over.
So, if any of you can find a good EPC205, I suspect it'd be great in a modern balanced system. Not certain how the SAS styli deviate from the originals though, but as it's vinyl we're discussing, I suppose the gloves are off in this regard.

The SAS has a more advanced profile, compared to the conical “nail”. If you do find a 205, budget to replace the stylus, as Karma67 says, the temperature sensitive rubber is probably goosed.

There was a IIL which was incredibly temp sensitive according to the 'Choice review I have in front of me. The IIIL had a different suspension, but no idea at all if these also suffered long term. No knowledge of the IV at all. These diamonds were naked elliptical I recall and I seem to recall beryllium cantilevers, which were the fashion back then. the SAS styli are made totally differently and I'm sure the diamonds themselves are superbly made and set, but the suspension, tie wires and so on will be differently made and set (if the Shures I've seen are anything to go by) and so far, the jury's out as to whether they really are better in every way, rather than different. Probably a needless worry on my part and £200 for a precision stylus isn't a lot of money these days (a 1042 stylus is £165 - £179 depending on supplier and my reservations about it may well be VTA fine tuning as it worked well in a slightly tail-down RB300 arm).

It was a boron pipe canto, made by some special method. The suspension will likely be goosed, if not, it will be soon.

I loved the ADC XLM (mk11 or 111? can't remember which now) good dynamics, sound stage and "tone"! - came with a "free magnesium alloy head shell). As I was an impressionable youth I replace it with a K9 - OK on dynamics, rather course, but I persevered Splashed out on an Ortofon MC25fl - beautiful music, but I missed the dynamics and when it started picking up fluff (stylus damage/age? - not sure but I may have a look in to getting it retipped one day) I took the opportunity of replacing it with a DV10X5. Back with the dynamics that I had been missing. Moved on to a 20X2h, pre owned but in excellent condition- OK but didn't move me. Now back with a 10X5, it seems that I need the more dynamic/visceral presentation to keep me happy.
