It may well depend on the attenuator impedance as well as lack of any gain.
Perhaps Orchard should consider a simple but effective preamp in simple slim box to drive them?

So does that mean 2.5V for 75W? Forgive the possibly bad maths here. if so, then Biggie here didn't get anything like full output from his unity gain preamp when he tried it...
I'm sure you can buy inexpensive professional line buffers that could work, but my knowledge of the pro market is p***-poor and I can't make specific recommendations. If you were up to it, an old cylindical MF X-10D line buffer came up a treat with the Rock Grotto update kit, the thing all but losing completely the excess warmth and slight 'dirt' in the original (we sold loads with the infamous CD63-KI CD player which was brash and bright on its own). I say it as a future reference if anyone fancies a go with one of these... Half the voltage equal to 1/4 power, so 2.5V is 37.5W. Power is proportional to the square of the voltage. Examples 2 x voltage = 4 times power 1/2 voltage = 1/4 power Oli tried the Amps with the PecanPi. Did you see that portion of his review? |

BOSC quality... Every BOSC amp is hand-assembled and tested in the USA, by yours truly. The circuit board (PCB) uses a high-quality dielectric, has a gold finish (ENIG), and is assembled in Eatontown, NJ. The components all come from high-end semiconductor manufacturers: Texas Instruments; Analog Devices; Murata; Panasonic; and NXP; to name a few. The output filter inductors use oxygen-free copper (OFC) and are specifically made for Class-D amplifiers. Even though Orchard Audio is new to the market, I have multiple patents and over a decade of experience in designing audio electronics. The HiFi market is tough to break into but loan lists and demos will get people on board once they hear them. Submit them for review with the big mags like Stereophile etc. It cant hurt. |

A lot of these hifi reviewers are frustrated writers rather than plain old Hifi reviewers. Tell me how it sounds, how much it costs and what it looks like? And if you must I'll even go as far as looking at some measurements but please keep it mercifully short and leave all the flowery or quirky descriptions to the proper writers. I quite like Stereophile for the range of products they review but they are always too long and 6 moons forget it, I'm bored after page 1.

If your going purely digital then I can see the appeal of these amps, small and tucked away and of course the proof is in the pudding I fail to see how you can judge their vfm without listening to them.

Listening to amps? now there's a thought  May I jot down a thought here? it would appear today that dac technology is now so good on the whole that in theory, they *should* all 'sound' pretty much the same if appearance, facilities and costs are disregarded - in other words, heard blind/un-sighted.. It's my thoughts that amps at this level with near dac-like distortion measurements an order of magnitude better than many 'enthusiast' brands, plenty of power and a very low output impedance so as not to alter the response of a (passive crossover) speaker connected to them, that *just maybe,* they do all 'sound the same' within the power outputs available. One may not like that, but..... |

I suspect DACS have all sounded very similar since at least 1990.
