I couldn’t find the second half where he actually says what he thinks of the sound. I only know the 505/2,505/3 and 503/1. Not real hifi AFAIC. Cheap turntables are so far short of what you can get from a £10 car boot CD player, I just don’t see the point. They usually have horrible, flimsy, plasticky build quality too, so no non-sonic reasons for ownership.

They did some fairly serious decks too but you never see them. All the cheaper ones were tat just like the one in the video. I had the 505 'Audiophile Edition' for a short while. A mate really wanted it so I sold it to him.

Andre will hate this, lol. S. Great video for me. I love looking at the users systems on Hoffman. American amps and speakers are a big draw for me. It still surprises me that people buy great kit and then don’t give their speakers the room they need to work properly. |

This man is planning on replacing his nice 15 year old Denon amp. Was looking at some of the amps internals. Most of them look average. The prices asked for these modern amps are getting more daft!

Whilst I disagree with the Eden Audio guy’s solution of sitting near field, I agree with his conclusion that small rooms and less than ideal siting are sonic killers. To me they make decent sound unachievable. Small room and bad speaker placement = “don’t bother”. Of course it’s down to what you want from a system at the end of the day. For me, the things I seek aren’t available in a room and system like the one he has. |
