I remember them. Think I've still got the original brochure. I'm sure they were excellent. Not as pretty as the contemporary Sansui amps though.

Aye. The 9000 Range were great. The two box RS-9900 Cassette deck was a beauty

The Early 80's Techy amps like the 'V4-X' were better sounding imho but obviously not as Tank like constructed.. Those 9000's were the back end of the 70's

I do all rebuilds myself & i only use the best components the cost soon mounts up. The PSU Reservoir cap in Black Gate 'K' would cost about £30 the alone. Absolutely worth it .The big problem with people is they buy vintage amp, plug em in & think they are crap. If they listened again to a fully rebuilt model of what ever they bought they would think twice. What is up with yours? Here’s mine photos.app.goo.gl/tMJJN4DRcaRfL4qw7

I didn't like BG caps when I tried them, preferring the AN Kaisei versions. Any others you might recommend?

There only one being only single Rail PSU... Original is 2,200uF/50v. I shall fit 4,700uF/63V instead.. Cost about £20..

Upping the capacitance gives a faster more powerful sound believe it or not. I shall up the two output coupling caps as well...

It needs a bloody good clean looking at that photo though....

I don't know why but i did it to the Phonostage and noticed that there was more weight/power. Should have done it to the Krell too Doh! Kemet, hmmm. I know only a few make caps big enough for the Krell so I'll keep an eye on the Kemet stuff. I'd prefer originals but who wants to spend £140 per cap (needs four) 🙄

Cannot say I found that the last time I tried. In the end I went for a quasi mono approach with a single transformer and dual rectifiers and a dual set of capacitors for L & R. This gave better channel separation and a better depth perspective.

Well, for you, yes; for me - no.
When the Nait 1 came out a reviewer tried increasing the reservoir capacitance, only to find it had a negative effect.l, and Naim agreed.

There was a definite increase in weight to the phonostage's sound. Saying that, I did change the brand of capacitor to Mundorf from JBX. Could the brand have made the difference rather than the capacitance?

Well if you go increasing it too much possibly so.. The original A&R Cambridge 'A60' Use a pair of 6,800uF Caps they switched to 10,000uF there after.

It's a very reasonable price for that little lot. Good job I'm nowhere near Leeds!

Just one of the power amps alone is worth a ton.
Not saying they are the last word in SQ but they are super cool and would do for a TV system.
