Jammy, i fear it's far too veiled by today's standards. Look, I replaced my SC22/STA25 with a fuggin' Naim CB 160 and 12S and it sounded no worse - maybe the Radford really was shagged... I've since heard a good STA15 with Croft preamp and it was lovely, so.........

Well they may meet my criteria sound wise Dave but I could never enjoy them for they look too ugly.
And yup, I accept beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

There does have to be a balance between looks and sound, ask Westie.

Apart from only wanting black equipment where possible, I don't really care much about the looks. The sound is what matters, as far as I'm concerned.

Interesting Dave. I didn't know that. Do you know how closely related the designs are?

Same designer and 'sonic' philosophy. Chris Evans (no, not THAT one) was a partner in A&R Cambridge and I think did the A60, Alpha, the tuners I think and the large big hearted pre and power they did, left when he and John Dawson began thinking the company's development along different lines (the Delta 60 to me was all about rhythm rather than musical tunes) and I believe he then went to NAD UK and had a lot to do with their smoothie CD players in the late 80's and possibly the 320 and related amps they launched around this time. He started Myryad in the mid 80's and spiritually if little else (the A60 has an old, frail low powered output stage) the MI-120 updates the concept, with a smooth but far more powerful sound, made even better if you can bi-amp with the add-on power amp they made. I only heard the big 200WPC+ power amp once, but again, it was gracious, meaty and not in the tiniest bit harsh toned.

Bearing in mind the current passive ATC with descended bass and mid drivers is new car money, I hope the buyer finds they have a bargain.

If it was £500 I’d have been tempted. No idea what I would do with them right now, but when will you see another pair? It’s been a few years since I saw some for sale,

I’d like to hear more valve amps, especially vintage ones. I’ve come to realise how important transformers are and I don’t believe most affordable newer valve amps give them the sort of attention they did in the past. Jammy’s Radford is an obvious exception to this, but it shows the care that was taken back then by many makers.

The Leak Stereo 20 is a great amp. Vibrant and much punchier than you'd expect. I've had three of them. Talking of transformers, compare the size of those on the Leak with any other EL84 valve amp.

Those look sort of familiar. I like the bass drivers, nice felted paper cones, should sound decent.

I love the looks, the size, the construction, bass unit choice, expensive lookimg tweeters. If I was closer I think I’d buy them. I’d certainly go have a listen.
