If foreign hi-fi gets more expensive that makes the UK made stuff more competitive. More sales and potentially more UK hi-fi manufacturers.
That also applies to any product.
On the other hand tat from China already has duty on it yet the shops are full of it.

Having owned a few Whiteley Stentorian speakers, I'd not bother. The power handling is very limited and the sound quality an aquired taste.

Yep beautiful they were. Those 401C were exactly the same other than that.. The guy that got me into Hi-Fi burned out a Cambridge audio 'A75' driving those

I thought the 'A60' sounded better than the Pre/Pwr. But obviously you got more power of tap with the power amps + You could connected in Bridged Mono..
Never judge a book by its cover Westie. A lotta lotta people still use those A60

Use the right speaker with it, sound great, Wrong one it dont sound so great.. I always thought the Heybrook 'HB-1' was a great match. You could buy the 'A60' in an 'AP' version which allowed you to use it as a Pre Amp with the matching 'SA60' power amp [Two SA60X with a bunch of Active Loudspeaker crossover boards available to be fitted] They did Active boards for the Early white Missions '717'/'727'. Linn 'Kan'/'Sara', ARC '101'/'102' etc..
