The speakers had bungs but the amp posts seem to have a metal plate that won't prize out similar to these

Got my wiim hooked up to the taishan T30 dac today . I bought one as there very cheap Spotify sounded a lot better then i took advantage of 60 day trial of tidal for 2 quid. what a difference!!! The sound quality was so much more clear but it sounded like something was missing maybe some richness gonna try qobuz now also and compare

Yeah the FiiO Taishan is a stonking little DAC for the money, I've had one for a few years with my CCA in a 2nd system. I now run the CCA & Taishan from a Chifi 5v LPS using a USB splitter to run both of a single USB out. The lps really lifts the SQ, of both to silly levels for the cost.

yep that's all you need, as neither unit pulls much current, mine is only a 15w.

So I've done lots of listening recently many thanks to qobuz for that as I've now subscribed !! And I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to save up for some new speakers the missions sound great but I think they may be too bright for me as the sound starts to get annoying after a while and the vocals seem too loud does this sound right? as I've no idea what bright sounding speakers sound like

To me bright is when the sound is too much in your face so it becomes tiring to listen to.

That's it there's too much of it

Hard to say for sure as we all classify 'bright' differently. Your room and personal hearing/perception will effect what you hear too.
The hearing is very sensitive to extra presence and/or distortion in the vocal regions. Generally, this will be the 1kHz to 4kHz. The 4kHz to 9kHz range (approx.) will have a strong influence on the 's' sibilance and 't' sounds in speech too.
Generally speaking, speakers will add the most 'character' to the sound. It is technically much more challenging to design a speaker with a perfect frequency response. High levels of distortion will make a speaker sound bright or harsh too. Distortion will be added (to varying degrees) at all points in the reproduction chain.
Which sounds or tracks sound the most 'bright'?
I would say that changing the speakers could be the most effective way to change the sound and soften brightness. However, I would strongly recommend trying some on a home demo first. Even more expensive speakers (say £1k and much more) can sound very bright. Used will get you the best VFM, but is risky as you can't usually try at home before you buy.
I spent years removing 'brightness' from my system. I was often chasing my tail as kept taking a punt on used gear without trying at home. Have you got a friends into hifi who could bring speakers over to try?

Whilst you are saving for replacement speakers I would suggest you have a play with speaker position and toe-in, as these two elements can have an effect on the sound we perceive. It may also be that you have insufficient 'stuff' in the room to help with damping the room itself (put a photo up of how your room is now) then others may be able to suggest something. As to what speakers, it may be worth taking your amp along to a dealers and having a listen to some Q Acoustics 30xxi series as their sound will be similar to the older 20xx & 30xx. If you like what they do then 3010,3020 etc often come up at very sensible prices as do the C20.

I can't find any measurements for those Missons and without that or actually coming round for a listen it's shooting in the dark.
A digital source can be pretty unforgiving with a speaker that was designed on a low budget, the speaker may actually not be good enough to deliver to your expectations.
I'd look for a three way standmount speaker for your application. Ideally one that has some independent measurements published so you can see what your getting before handing over the cash. Otherwise you could try speakers at random for the next couple of decades and not get what you want. Ask me how I know.

Here is the room now I've treated the side walls with 50mm insulation batts covered with Hessian may need some treatment on the ceiling ? Think toe in is the only speaker position adjustment I can play with now Kit list Wiim streamer via optical to taishan dac then RCA to Cambridge audio A1 Van damme speaker cable to Mission LX1s (specs in photo )on sand filled stands sat on 50mm concrete slabs speaker to listening position is in an equalateral triangle speakers 1.8m apart speakers toed in to just past my head I get good phantom centre and imaging if that's the right term to use 🤔

I think someone should set up a speaker hire company so we can all try them at home before we take the plunge an cough up hundreds or thousands on speakers

Possibly a daft suggestion, but have you tried inverting the speakers so the tweeter is in the traditional position at the top of the speaker? Am loving the Airfix Saturn V model, had the kit as an Xmas prezzy in the early 70s, my dad helped me build it.

I'm looking at spending around £300 the q acoustics 3030s seem good and also the kef q150s but are a bit more pricey I need to save but it's nice having something to aim for 🙂

You know what I did think about that I'll have a play later mission did say the tweeter does fire slightly upward it's so the sound hits you ear from both at the same time apparently the Saturn 5 is a Lego kit I got for my birthday last year

So you think i should up my budget? I've had a slack day at work today so I've done lots of research and now have 2 contenders within my budget Q acoustics 3030i Elac debut B6.2 Unless I can get better used for the same price ? Think I'm after a more neutral sound maybe. I do like the tight clean bass I get from the missions tho Time to go bother the staff at my local richer sounds and do some overtime I think

I have my first pair of Troels speakers, and had I known about them 10 years ago, I'd have saved a great deal of bloody effort. Probably would have saved me a fortune in equipment too.
