I wouldn't be averse to spending a bit on a DAC, indeed I almost did recently, until my mechanic decided my van needed the money instead.
But I wouldn't be spending fortunes on one. I mean, a well engineered precision instrument (turntable, tonearm and cartridge) is one thing, while a tin box (aluminium) of electrical bits (DAC) is another. Not comparable imo, and prices should reflect this.

Seems we are in danger of repeating well rehearsed arguments, which is fine but it doesn't seem fair to do it on a new members welcome thread. 😉

@pigmy pony Me sexist, never I'm happy for them to be on the tv, but let them stick to their own sports, women's football, women's cricket and women's rugby. Now you on the other hand, you wanting them to 'look nice'

Been looking at swapping the duvets in the near future as they look naff to foam tiles or making my own panals from 50mm rockwool might be able to get some cheap or for free !! but I'm struggling to find cheap fabric and would panels be better ? as the cost is around the same

For cheap fabric, use the larger charity furniture warehouses for old curtains, sheets and towels.

Massive sheet for £20 off eBay. Made four 1200x600 panels.

Grrrr☹️had to remove my amp and speakers out the loft due to this cold snap as temperatures up there were getting cold 2°as it's not insulated 😕 had to do some measuring and some hard maths to work out best option for retro fitting insulation. costs are going up for my little cheap project !!! I've stated so I'll finish I guess

Sh#t, we didn't see that one coming! And you just know that prices of insulation products are gonna be through the roof, pardon the pun. Might be cheaper to stick with the duvet-walls and throw more money at heating the space until spring comes. Good luck Dwain

I never buy solid fuels or insulation in the winter. It's always at a premium.
Maybe switch it all off and wait until the spring? Attack the loft with gusto then and spend from now until then with some Bluetooth headphones. I'm told they are better than ever now.
Just a thought.

I've had to raid the piggy bank😕 Managed to get the insulation for a good price so it's costing me £160 Inc delivery for 50mm battens then I'm gonna get a 120w tube heater what would be the min temp for the amp and speakers 10 to 15 deg ? Or less

Or less I wouldn't worry too much about the equipment, should be fine, more important to have your listening room comfortable. And it's no good if you can't hear the music properly over the sound of your chattering teeth.

I shouldn't worry about minimum temperature for your gear, you'll freeze before it does.
If you had a turntable the cartridge suspension might stiffen up and sound sub optimum.

I've got a heater up there but it guzzels the juice so any insulation will save me some cash in the long run
