That's a cool space to hang out in, Shane. Love that floor rug. I've always been curious about the Something Solid stands. They appeal to my preference for light and rigid (although, 3 feet would be better than 4, ime). If my Torlytes ever give up the ghost then I would have a pair made for my Cube 1s - you can specify the exact dimensions required:

Shane, that CD player is a massive bottleneck IMO. the SE was so much better and the 8SE better again - all done in the dem room many times - the Planet plus couple just had the edge again.....
Mark Orr (Something Solid) is a lovely chap and he visited our Northampton store weekly as we did so much business with him. Those stands really do work on 'BBC types,' and remove a kind of 'tubbiness' in older Harbeths really well we found. Solid ATC's preferred a solid heavy stand and I retain a set of 20" column stands Mark used to make. Their equipment supports and racks are excellent to, especially the upper models with balsa shelves and supported by yacht-sail lines as a form of suspension. It shouldn't make any damned difference, but some top Arcam FMJ gear did sound better thus supported, more musical and 'involving' than when in a conventional rack (YES, I know it's racks, but most gear is metal cased and can be placed sightly closer together...).

Love the room Shane, and would probably agree with dsjr, a better cdp is called for.

I’ve never had an Aplha 7 but I know Shane has had a lot of players so I trust his ears. Sometimes a player just “works” in a system. Rega Planet can often pull this off.

I apologise, I'm just too close to this era of players. When comparing things, we often started with an Alpha 7, then switched to the 8 and then 8SE, which was better than the other two quite noticeably. Changing to an original 'clamshell' Planet with Remote and Couple was another slight refinement. I did this so many times and with many samples, I feel justified in my comments. I have to say the 7SE was a big step forward in terms of the 'lucidity' of the music and the once bigger steps to the Alpha 8 were much smaller, although the 8 had more 'weight' if no longer more delicacy.
ES11's don't or should I say 'didn't' sparkle as later 'classic' ES14's did and will sound a bit tame and bland if the source and amp don't give the kind of assertiveness I think they need. The Exposure amp didn't hold back I remember so 'we're' half way there I reckon.

I'd think a Meridian 206 would slot nicely into that system Shane. I know you like them.

Which batch though? January, March or May? Like Linn in the mid 80's, Meridian chopped and changed them about inside back then, but to be fair, if one went back for service, they were 'updated' as part of the repair...

Last Week I placed order for an NVA A20/P20 with LS1 cables. Be very interesting to hear the NVA injecting it's signal in the Epos.
My gut feeling tells me the NVA will have more delicacy over the Exposure. But it will certainly not have the weight and punch!!

LS2 is pretty much an upgrade over many dealer bought wires at Naim 5 price and below - it wasn't designed to have odd audiophool characteristics!

Nothing overly fantastic happening at Shane's Towers.
Had to sell my lovely Epos 11 a while back to help my mother purchase a new wardrobe.
For now I'm using some cheap tannoy eclipse one speakers. You know, they actually sound alright for the money! Not in the mood right now for expensive speakers. So just something cheap and cheerful will suffice. I'm possibly toying with the idea of buying Neat Iota Alpha (compact) in the future. I'm quite fond of the company, huge respect for Bob.
Still using the same Exposure 2010S2 amp. Nice little amp! Has all of the Naim timing and midrange with slightly smoother corners.

Helping your Mum - nice one Shane. I have never heard the Neat Iota, but would love to see how it compares to my Cube 3's.

Some changes.
Now using Rega RS3 Speakers. They sound more like a grown-up Ela. You get a similar clean midrange, but without the laid bare raw treble.
Later this week a chap will be dropping over a Talk Storm 2 Integrated. At a guess this looks like a good substitute amp to the Exposure 2010S2.

Should work really well together. Is this for your bedroom or man cave setup?

Couple pics of the Celestions. Please do excuse the rusty old stands. Really thinking about getting some heavy target stands in the future. S.

I've decided to sell the Celestions, I prefer hearing the more open airy sound from the Mordaunt Short MS10i. But yes they certainly will lack some refinement compared to the Celestions.
The MS10i is a nice little speaker. They remind me ever so slightly of Grado headphones from the prestige range. Have kept the MS10i for nearly 6 years now, so I must really like them then lol.
I'm possibly planning on saving up for some KEF LS50 Speakers. My father owns a pair. They sound good and are built like a brick shithouse. Plus they look rather distinctive, which I like.
