Ok so after a few headaches with holes not lining up etc I’ve finally got it assembled ready to take the boards . Not the kind of thing you expect when you spend best part of 500 sheets . What Dyu reckon ? I think it’s ace Look like it gonna be a great looking (better sounding) amplifier! We expect to be Inundated with pic heavy updates.

Cheers fellas. Bit more progress today but I’ve hit a wall now until the traffo arrives . Don’t wanna start wiring until I’ve got the traffo hooked up to the switch , soft start and power boards , then tested .

Looking good, but the cable for the power switch may be too short? Difficult to tell from the photo. It has to get to the ISS.

You should be able to connect the inputs/outputs, the 686 and the Guardians. I would leave the power connections until you have verified the secondaries.

That's looking very tidy.
Any idea of timescale for the Traffo?

That's looking very tidy. Any idea of timescale for the Traffo? No mate . They said roughly 18 days when I ordered the week before Xmas so likely beginning of Jan sometime. As Cagey said I can sort out some of the wiring before then. I have a feeling I will be waiting a while for the binding posts aswell. Audiophonics shipped them two weeks ago nearly and they still haven’t left France yet according to the tracking 🙄

Ok so Toroidy have just emailed to say that what with the Xmas break , the traffo won’t be ready to ship for 2 weeks yet , likely 3 weeks before it gets here so I will just have to be patient . So in the meantime here’s the RCAs and binding posts I went for . Viborgs top offerings. BP604-G and RC102-G .Both have Pure copper conductors and Gold/silver/copper triple plated and the posts have carbon fibre sleeves . I’m sure they will give optimal signal conductivity . They look like great quality pieces

I have the binding posts fitted on my amp. They seem fine. I went for WBT “low mass” pure copper RCA plugs.
Check the detail of the fitting of the viborg posts, as I believe they have an anti-rotation feature. The pictures of your case look like they have found holes, so you may need to get the file out....

Hi guys can somebody please sanity check this for me to make sure that the amplifier out (2 wires in the middle white block) run straight through into the Guardian like I have them or if they cross over before going into the green two pin block at the top ? Thanks . I’m second guessing myself 😂

No need to cross the wires Karl as the signal is AC anyway. Put some thicker wire on the output as well.

Is there not a risk of being out of phase if they are not connected correctly?

Cheers ,
Tom said they run straight through , left most to left most but as the boards were facing different ways I want sure if it would affect the wiring.
I will leave as is . If it sounds out of phase I no what the culprit is
And yes I do plan on getting some better wire for there. Any particular AWG you recommend. This is 14 or 16 if I remember rightly .
The rest of it is Canare wires and pretty thick and decent so should be ok

I used some speaker caber - CABLE TALK 3.1 SPEAKER CABLE that I had lying around. But it needs to be at least equal gauge to the cable feeding the Guardians,

I will have a look what I’ve got lying around the place . If not I will order a couple of metres of 20awg as I can use it to hookup the PSU to the guardian too .

Just hijacking your thread a little to show the finished build for Edward, it's taken a while to get the correct sized text. Here is what I did to accommodate XLR and RCA, the copper link in the XLR socket gives single ended input. An idea pinched from Krell.

So the binding posts that still say they’re in France (according to the tracking) have landed and I have to say they are superb quality. Bloody big bastards too , really Solid
