Not sure - hope Scotty can pipe in (will have a look tomorrow when it's powered down) The boxes with the spare valves (Tesla) say National (matched pair) so I assume that is what is in the amp Yep they’re a matched pair of national matsushitas and the single is a gold lion if memory serves me but will check.

I checked and it's a Tung Sol Gold that I put in there. Thanks. Having listened to a good many LP's over the last few days the BB3 certainly seems to dig out details that I hadn't noticed before on tracks I am familiar with. Very pleased with the purchase

Had the valve amp for 3 years plus and never rolled a tube in that

bundles of trouble.
They're cute but when they're swinging on the curtains you tend to reconsider.

Yep - love clawing and chewing anything and everything. The music room is out of bounds to them so at least all of my kit should be safe!!

All the searching I have done on valves I've never come across the Tube Classics link, but I will keep it for further reference

No diamond pattern on the base - so not a real one then

I see a square, which is the diamond pattern between the pins.
It looks good to me.

No diamond pattern on the base - so not a real one then The Diamond is not a cast iron marker of authenticity. The dimpled getter is. Post a pic of the 'halo' where it attached to the post holding it.

Not (of course!) that I doubt Oli's expertise and knowledge, but I'd always heard that the diamond (which isn't on yours) was a sure fire and necessary ID of a Telefunken. www.audiotubes.com/teledate.htm"Genuine Telefunken Germany (Berlin and Ulm) made tubes have a diamond mark molded into the glass between the pins. If the diamond mark is missing, the tube was likely made by Siemens or another of the Dutch Philips companies. The codes printed on the glass may be Telefunken codes, but without the diamond mark in the bottom glass the tube was not actually made by Telefunken. " That may be wrong, I've no real idea. I'm a long way from being an expert.

I'm a long way from being an expert. There was a point where the Chinese had managed to "etch" or "engrave" the diamond into the base, so from a pic it's hard to tell. The only way to be 100% from a pic is if the getter is dimpled. Only TFK did this apparently and thats also the view of JACMusic who is something of valve expert. Thrats where i got the imnfo from. In the hand, the diamond should be raised. Berlin or ULM had the Diamond base and if it hasent got it, it was either made in Munich by Siemens and Haske or even later in Hungary by a company who's name i cant recall. They only made a few and they were poor

Surely you can tell by installing it and listening to the sound quality? And if you can't then it doesn't matter anyway.
