Seen this tonearm before. They are all hand built and designed. I heard a copy of comments with regards build quality over on LH, but I have to say that looks excellent.

So far the arm looks to be in good nick with nothing dodgy with the build quality. The way it's put together I think I could easily try different materials and lengths! Once the bolts come i will be able to hear it and tell with it is worth the money and making a better base for it.

Sounds like a nice cart - I love the A&R P77 cartridge - this one has been tweaked by Expert some years back so really creates a great sound. No point spending money until I can hear how the arm sounds!

Absolutely gutted today Had to put our second kitten down as he started to appear 'different' 2 weeks ago, then this week seemed very lethargic just like his brother did. Took him to the vets yesterday and after some blood tests, he has cat Covid so today we decided to not let him suffer we would put him down A picture a few weeks back with his older brother (not by blood) - RIP Zeus!

New bolts arrived today so I could fix the cartridge on the head-shell (ordered nylon bolts and nuts with washers as only £4 for 10) It works and sounds pretty good so far. A little tweaking with the pivot to spindle distance (running at 295 at the mo). A few pictures: More tweaking to come no doubt

Love the tonearm, looks bespoke and quality. I bought it second hand from a guy of Lenco Heaven - I believe a chap in Latvia makes them. This was the 2nd iteration with a better head shell (if it can be called that!!) It should allow me to make other arms from different wood and also lengths to see what improvements or otherwise I can make.

What sort of bearing does the tonearm use Andy?

First draft for the PI case that will hold the touch screen - the PI will be mounted on the base (ordered a longer DSI cable) so the connectors will be at the back. The screen still has its protective cover on in the pics. Need to sort out the adhesion as it has started to lift when printing but just need to tweak the sizes and will make it more modular.

1 Step forward Repositioned the PI to the edge of the base so the phono and power sockets face backwards. Network and USB ports on the left. Bought a cable to go from the PI to the screen but turns out the screen is not using the standard format so 'tweaked' the cable I bought and now all is good as can be seen below: Will design a new case which will allow me to easily add sides and back.

After all the talk of changing amplifiers on the Neurochrome thread and Oli reminding me that I still have the Burson Bang, I have just dug it out of hibernation and replaced my trusty all valve Pure Sound A30 to give it another blast. This morning I have just been using the digital side of things, using the RPI with the new R2R DAC and blow me down with a feather but it sounds bloody brilliant. Listening to a FLAC version of a vinyl box set I have (A Certain Ratio - acrbox) and what I am hearing is fantastic. Very detailed and punchy without being fatiguing which I thought it might have been (listening for the last 3 hours as its a large box set - 9 x 12") The pictures that is being painted are really good, with a very large expansive sound on some tracks which I don't remember but a while since I listened to this album. Later on today I might try the vinyl version to see if I hear the same differences? A few pictures always help The R2R DAC: The Burson is placed on top of the headphone amp (currently used as a pre amp and working brilliantly)

Found a track in FLAC format that seemed to show all the various elements of what I was hearing with the Burson/DAC combo so pulled out the vinyl version and carried out a comparison. Pretty close to be honest. didn't have to adjust the volume as both must be giving out as close to 2V as is possible. Silent passages were both very 'black' but the bass was the major difference for me with the DAC being a bit cleaner and clear. Presentation (sound stage) felt very similar, perhaps slightly better with the DAC but not much in it and neither bright, the vinyl perhaps more to my tastes as my ears aren't as young as they used to be (damn that old age thing). Hmm. Not what I remembered when I last used the Burson, but the DAC has changed and on the vinyl front, a lot of tweaks have been made to the TT (Pete's Pylons, different oil mix for the bearing and the acrylic platter). Need to hear the 686 in my system now as tempted to sell the Pure Sound?

I'll happily loan you mine for a week, but it would need picking up and delivering back, as the caps inside haven't been entirely fixed in place just yet. It's also too important to me to post.

Totally understand. Issue is I am up in Yorkshire and you are down in the Black Country and during the lock down you should only be travelling those kind of distances if work related so will struggle for the moment - perhaps nearer summer I hope they ease restrictions!!
