Without testing everyone we dont know who's had it, and we do need to know who's had it so they can get back to normal life and by doing so support others. Ultimately those with compromised immune systems are waiting for herd immunity or a vaccine/cure.
Because the majority cannot stay in isolation forever to protect a minority indefinitely.
But we need the figures to make informed choices, personally and politically.
I reckon we'll hit peak death rate end of next week.

We are now convinced that my wife has C-19. She has had a temperature since Thursday (mostly getting worse in the evening) and has an on and off cough. I hope all goes well Paul. Apparently day 8 is one of the toughest if it is COVID-19. Just bear in mind that there are other illnesses around that can be similar. We are day 8 and my wife has started to feel exceptionally rough today. Freezing cold and a nasty headache, plus aches and pains. No breathing difficulties at the moment thankfully.

Look after her Paul. Other signs are apparently a loss of the sense of smell and taste.

Just read 13 residents at a care home outside Glasgow have died in the last 7 days. Non of them went to hospital. Shows that if you're over 70 no ones too bothered and if you did have a hospital bed and someone younger comes in your out in the corridor.

How that C#nt Trump gets away with the shite he spouts I just do not know. To say it's a good idea to wear a mask and then say "it's not actually an order so I wont be doing it " ! You must have to be a yank to put up with that sort of cack.

Just a small tribute. The kids around here have been fantastic. Hardly any of them out and thei deserve a round of applause. The problem is the 20 to 30's. They seem to be totally arrogant and selfish about the whole thing. Wandering around with friends who are obviously not family and giving the proverbial finger to anyone who challenges them. I can't believe the disrespect when the huge hospital is less than a mile away and people are trying to save lives. Cyclists , again are the biggest culprits.

Looking at the graphs it seem that the countries in lockdown have done worse than the likes of Sweden and Belarus who haven't had a lockdown. Oops ! π

They just need to do more testing.
The interesting question is once you have had C-19 and have the anti-bodies, are you immune from passing it onto others? i.e. can you effectively go on with your life without fear of infecting someone else? If not where does that leave us?

I think that is still unknown at present. The answer is 'probably'.

Surely you can still be a carrier? I know people who have had it, and have all survived. The problem is, we donβt know who has had it unless they test 100% of the population.

I'm actually quite comforted by boris getting a taste of his own medicine, its uniquely fitting. Perhaps now he'll realise how wrong the approach that he chose was and how it has already contributed needlessly to the suffering of tens of thousands and the deaths of close to 10,000.
Maybe when we hit 20k dead next weekend you all might feel different about him suffering a bit.

Like he made any decision himself. No matter who was PM they'd act on the medical advice - and the medical advisors would be the same people regardless of who is in government.
