Jim,
Right, don't flog that one. If you get fed up with the Lenco just shove it in the attic for 2 years!! Is the M55E USA or Mexico. You've scored a real bargain if you've managed to get that Lenco + a USA based M55E. Are you going to rebody the M55e?

Wow, that does look in good nick. So...is this to replace your current deck? No Steve, this Lenco will be used as a second turntable in my system, definitely wont replace the VPI. I had a GL75 before and really liked it but stupidly sold it. This one will be going nowhere!
I will restore and service it to original condition, it is part of a bigger project that is coming together nicely.

Hi Andy,
yes this one is a beauty and far too nice to rip apart so I will keep it mint original. It is probably even nicer condition than my old one!
I think the M55e is USA but will check. I did not expect it too be thrown in but lucky me. Now I may have a NOS Shure n55e stylus in the loft so will use that for a bit but might be tempted to go down the Jico SAS route again! That is a killer combination!
Might rebody the M55e, what did you use?

That's a very nice GL75 James . Well done mate Yes very lucky to find such a nice one. The turntable Mat is totally mint as is most of the deck. The chap also threw the M55e in for free, the is not one for sale anywhere on the planet at the moment because I was trying to find the current price. Lots of stylus available but only a few worth going for - probably Jico.
Haven't switched it on yet though!

Jim, I bought a snakewood body from the chap in Germany. It might be worthwhile trying to get someone to do a Panzerholz body. You can tell if you've got a USA M55E simply by looking at the cartridge pins, it should say "USA" somewhere at the back of the cartridge under the pins.

Very nice condition - looks like the idler wheel has been changed at some point as the black power switch and black speed changer usually indicate a plastic idler wheel. The cart is a good match for the arm (how 'dangly' is the stub on the rear of the arm as it looks slightly droopy)
You can't beat the Lenco for VFM - I have a Leak Lenco GL75 that I got given by one of my uncles sitting in the garage which is in perfect nick - he bought it new in '73 and I got it in 1995. Will pop a pick on my blog if interested?

Hmmm, warning signs! I'd seriously check the alignment and engagement of the idler wheel and arm. The motor spindle shouldn't have excessive rubber. It's suggestive the idler wheel is not being properly engaged especially if its been replaced. Might be an idea to check the rubber doughnut on the idler arm and also check the idler arm isn't bent.

OK will do.

So some serious trouble with this bad boy today which will mean a full strip down and service. It was one part of the Lenco I did not really want to touch! Ah well at least the plugs don't need much attention! Wow!!!! They look fantastic lol 🤣🤣🤣

Yes I have painstakingly been over every nut, bolt and washer and everything is there and I dont think t has been messed with. All the screws are still marked with coloured paint and have not been undone so its in total original condition which is good in someways.
However as I found out yesterday this meant the motor was seized and today i found the main platter bearing completely oil free. Hey ho.
I expect the V blocks to be knackered so I have some on the way and as soon as I get my lithium grease I can finish the motor.
Basically its just a complete service.

Yes the motor was totally seized but I got it spinning. Needs stripping down completely and re greasing. Hopefully get it back as good as new. Always wanted to service a Lenco motor
95% of the Lenco is in great condition although I will need new lid.

Sounds like a pain Working on a Lenco isn't painful. A complete turntable service can be achieved within several hours once you've worked on a few. Stripping and rebuilding the motor and bearing can be done in a couple of hours and then fettling the suspension and idler wheel position takes eight weeks!!!!
