One day, when I’m allowed out to play again, I am thinking of getting my panzerholz plinth veneered. I shall take these pics into the chap that does it and say “I want that one”. 😀 I seriously think Jamie has a business opportunity here. That plinth has got me certainly considering seeing if Jamie Fancies a commissioned job.

Hi Jamie- for future reference if I went to get my deck veneered I note that you used Cocobolo. I love the colour and grain of what you used, is this easy to source or should I be looking for a more available alternative? Cheers Steve

Ah ok. Good to know. Still, you never know what people might have kicking about. Any suggestions as to what might be a good alternative?

Cheers Jamie. It’s going to be a while off until I’m able to get out and about anyway. Still,. Good to daydream Very lucky round here because of Bentley. A few extremely talented craftsmen (or possibly even crafts women.. before I get accused of my usual bias) have set up on their own locally. Looking at their projects online is awesome.

I've not updated this thread for a while so here are the latest addition. I have added a CLD armboard which can be independently adjusted from the plinth.it has bettered the panzerholz armboard imo and lets so much more tiny detail through.the design is marks (YNWaN ) the adjustment idea is mine which came from having a slight bow in the plinth. That's really it now, time to enjoy!

to see if the newplast damping is doing anything adverse i've knocked up a crude plinth in just panzerholz to compare.

Jamie, I'll be interested in hearing about your experiments. I'm in the process of re-evaluating my Garrard 301 and equipment rack, maybe making a rack and plinth out of Permali rather than Panzerholz. Newplast was something that was on my radar but I'd not got round to experimenting with.

a few updates, angus has nearly finished my bearing upgrade for my other tts-8000. gone are the old bronze oilite bearings and torlon replacements have been made and fitted, also the old spindle ball has been removed as it had a bad score and replaced with a new one, lastly the spindle has been polished.the final job remaining is a new thrust pad with a torlon insert. top work as always.
old spindle ball with the score.
in other news as my turntable is out of auction at the moment i took the opportunity to french polish the top some more.
