well i think i jinxed it,all was going well until i started to bore the hole, the glue gave way and bugger! back to the drawing board i think, delrin is the next material to try. ive gained some experiance doing it though, one thing ive learnt is this sort of thing is not a 5 minute job and cant be rushed. Gives an insight into why these things cost so much doesn't it.

Gives an insight into why you cant glue phenolic with the worlds worst epoxy, it needs phenol formaldehyde glue to get same strength.
Give it some 80 grit and the above glue

yesterday i spent most of the day attempting bearings,no chance! id have to spend a bit on tooling up and even then it requires huge accuracy, far better to leave it to a pro so i will be sending it off to angus next week. today some delrin arrived,i had better luck with this, its lovely to work with. tomorrow i will be attempting to mill the 3 mounting lugs for the rotor/coil assembly to sit on. the basic shape is there.

well this project seems to be taking over my life i hate to be beat but its got the better of me 3 times ,this is the last attempt,1 piece of delrin left,if i cock this up that's it. so today progress. turning down from 120mm to 83! yes i know but it was cheap lol. man that's a lot of shaving to get to this. milling the stand off's. i thinks that's enough tempting fate for today.

Nice bit of veneer there Jamie. I expect it will rather good when you have finished it and great idea to have a sub plinth.

just waiting for the black stringing line to get here. it will take away the slightly heavy look to the sub plinth.

you wait till the polish goes on,the grain will be beautiful. a few little jobs to do before that, fit a furutech iec connector, drill and tap the holes for the tt and the last on the list is drilling the hole for the tonearm, always a tense moment that one lol.
