Paid VAT/import fees on the DAC I owned in the 90's and whose sound I've been missing for some time. In a few days I'll know how much of my memory is accurate vs the golden glow of wistfulness.

Any clues as to what it is? It's the DAC that is NOT the subject of this review but keeps coming up as good or better than the reviewed one.

finally managed to get someone out to sort a gas fire of a friend with no central heating at all and they sorted it. i am so glad we used a local shop rather than getting a cheaper one online . always good to get support when things go wrong
Also went shopping for a sick relative , he asked for bacon so i thought i would try the very large local supermarket . The shop assistant didnt understand the word bacon so i said Ham and eventually he got the gist and found me all the halal sliced turkey meat from Instanbul i could ever want ..... always a first for everything !!!!

Just to make my day I have ongoing artery blockage issues to my legs which I have had one procedure for which worked for only a couple of weeks, but ever since has rapidly got worse. Saw the consultant 3 weeks ago who said there is a waiting list for more operations, but if it gets worse to contact his secretary, which I did today. She said the waiting list is now over six months, so I told her I can only walk around 15 feet before I cannot go further and I am lucky to get three hours sleep each night because the pain in my legs is so bad it wakes me up. Hoping they treat this as urgent otherwise I'm going to throw myself under a bus. SIX MONTHS!!!
I spent the day yesterday in hospital having another operation to cure my artery blockage problem with my left leg. The operation took over two and a half hours because they found a large blood clot which they managed to remove by sucking it out. This may explain why my foot has ballooned up so have been unable to walk at all. I was told I have very small arteries hence why I was in total agony during the entire process. I could write a book about pain - Chapter One "Ucking Fagony"

So very glad you managed to have the op , klast time you mentioned it may be months away . extraordinary there was a large clot , would have thought they would have found that before
arteries are a real problem when they block up , as you say they cause a huge amount of pain . keep us posted

Today I pulled the Benz Ace S, H from the RB250 on my 401 and replaced it with a Hana ML for shits and giggles, well I'd had it in the cupboard for 4 months doing nowt. DAMN!!! It sounds bloody amazing and the RB250 is bog standard, original wiring and plastic stub end. Just wanted to have a play as I'm getting stir crazy waiting for Paul Knipe (Solid Sounds) to build and send me my new plinth, didn't expect the ML to sound owt special on the RB but the arm has surprised me with its abilities.

Off to London for a liquid lunch with half a dozen old school friends. Listening to Qobuz mobile via AirPods. Just heard ‘ Take me home, country roads’ by Lana Del Ray. Have a horrible feeling I’ll be singing this out loud on the trip home. Could get embarrassing.

The general way of people these days can be depressing, there's very much a 'I do what I want' 'who are you to even dare challenge me' attitude about people, much ,more so than was before from what I tend to see around, as well as a lack of self control. Those of us who know better just have to counter by not mirroring, not always easy I know.

Thank you. Scary stuff… and yes, your question was avoided. With a 2 month old grandson just having his first jabs it’s relevant for us. Honestly.. it’s amazing that Andrew Wakefield didn’t get locked up for what he did. (Investigative journalism by Brian Deer for those interested).

thanks steve . finally got some guidance from senior health guy . i think your 2 month old grandson protected by maternal antibodies
have a read of this
The Green Book (national vaccine guide for health professionals) points out that MMR (remember it's a live virus vaccine) may be less effective if given between 6 and 12 months due to potential for any maternal antibodies to fight the vaccine, even though it can safely be given from 6 months. Standard advice therefore is that babies given MMR at between 6 and 12 months should still be given a further "first official" dose at between 12 and 15 months, which could get really confusing for parents and the health service. If there was any lowering, I would expect it to maybe go to 9 or 10 months but that still creates a dilemma for whether to advise (and set up the infrastructure to deliver) a second, or rather "first official" dose at 12 months or wait until the preschool 3 1/2 year booster.

Today, I received my latest valve punt. Got an Elpico ECC83 from the Bay for 20 quid. Advertised as made by Tungsram . What attracted me to it was that it had a foil getter and having got one already thought I'd take a punt for not much money.
Stuck it in the BB3, at first sounding quite bright with the bass a bit faint and euphonic. Wasn't too impressed but thought for 20 quid, never mind. 3 albums later, and it has settled in really well. Great sound ,dynamic , balanced and tight bass. Maybe it was NOS but it was advertised as used so who knows. Very happy! .
