Had my DIY head on today as got fed up with 700+ CDs sleeping on the playroom settee. Disemboweled one of the tall bookshelves to make shelves across the Kallax in my bedroom. Plenty of room now, so I can buy more music. ๐๐๐

Today I got my Lector CDP back as buyer been hit with a big car bill so can't afford to buy it. Must admit having plumbed it back in I'm not unhappy about the sale falling through, it sounds absolutely gorgeous via the IA ST40 SE. Smooth, rich and detailed, I guess having owned it for just over 5 years I'd become so used to its performance to the point where I didn't appreciate how good it was, 3 weeks of the AudioLab 6000CDT (damn fine in its own right) has given me a new perspective on it.

so the cdt6000 not as good then ? The Lector is streets ahead of the AudioLab, bass depth, texture, imaging, detail, you name it, to my ears it's got it beat hands down. Some may consider the Lector coloured and overly lush, I don't give a toss, its my type of sound, detailed, nuanced & rich.

Saw a programme on the issue the other day with an expert on the the tidy up side saying the only way is to make the fines really hurt and send out a message, hit the culprits where it hurts as the big dumpers are experts at it, it's business where they are often making a lot of money, so hit them where it hurts and sends out a proper and effective message.

'Hit them where it hurts'. I'm assuming you mean a public birching, then emptying their wallets to pay for the tidying up. I'll vote for this.

Everything has its price, also I guess I'm back in that honeymoon phase at the moment. I'm sure however that normal service will be resumed soon, in which case it will sit there unused for weeks/months at a time, which is a shame for such a fine piece of kit.

I think you have to look at the root cause of the issue. Limits on admittance to recycling plants introduced a few years ago has exacerbated the problem.
There was always this issue, to a much lesser degree.

@stryder I know there are limits on admittance at recycling plants, still no excuse to dump rubbish in the streets.

Lunchtime today I drove past Chris's kennel optical on the way to pick these little beauties up, (about 400 yards up the road) that I grabbed pretty cheap off of fleabay. A pair of Sonus Faber Toy Towers in Barred Black Leather.

How do they sound?

They sound very good indeed, whilst a tad less detailed and open than the Arcams, they are giving me that touch of added upper bass and mids lushness that was missing. The larger size of the SFs also means they have better bass weight and authority which is a trade off I can live with especially as they only cost me ยฃ600. I'm sure I will be on the hunt for different speakers later next year when I move and know what sort of room I will have, and some serious wedge to spend on kit + room treatment.

making good progress in tracking down the culprits . contacted the trade body of the company that i think did the external insulation . not 100% sure . we are worried the rest of the debris at the house it came from will end up at the tip site so hopefully they can stop that
yesterday tracked down the house some miles away that looked lovely and fresh after its external wall insulation and loads more debris in the drive
2 lots of councils contacted to investigate as from 2 counties
local councillors on the case probably will be in local press at some point
who knows how many of these companies are doing this , there is huge publicity with these free eco 4 grants , some houses in our road all having it done in a row !!!

Today I watched "Squaring the Circle" on Netflix. The story of Hipnosis who made/desinged a lot of the most famous album covers from the 60s to the 80s. Really interesting if you like music from that time period.

Yeah, was looking to much like a Dentists waiting room, as my Father would say whenever he saw a minimalist room in a magazine.
