horrible steve , hope you soon recover I’m fine.! It’s John (Lurch) that’s injured. Mine happened years ago under similar circumstances. I’m stationary, get rear ended and pushed into the car in front. The driver of the car in front sued me. Got very messy, but as luck would have it (sort of), I’d gone to A&E for whiplash and had a record. So the car that hit he had to take responsibility for me and the guy I’d hit.

We're still waiting to settle a claim for my wife's Jaguar being written off in the same way a year ago today. £13000 of damage to front and rear. Car behind was at fault, car claim settled within a fortnight. Injury claim still ongoing. Whiplash to both my wife and my daughter and my wife is still suffering from it along with shoulder, arm and leg pain. My daughter has now become the worst back seat driver ever and can't even look out the front when travelling in a car now. However that's not really what I came to post about. I'm about to open this box..... Samsung Q990c Dolby Atmos Soundbar 😁 Trying to get it all up and running before the boss gets home so she won't notice 😂

Yeah I'm okay, bit of mild tweakiness in neck (similar to sleeping wrong) but nowt major. Still able to chill with choons, change records and cook bacon sarnies, which is the important things taken care of. I’d get your neck checked out pronto. Not least of which you probably do have minor whiplash and it can go on and on. Secondly, you really should claim for injuries. I’m not saying this to encourage a claim, but as a defensive measure if you get a claim from the car that you were pushed into. It’s happened to me. Rang Carol Nash (my brokers) and they've been bloody excellent so far, told me as was a no fault rear shunt onto another car then no effect to my NC bonus and no excess to pay. A rep from CNs no win no fee solicitors wrang this afternoon and should hear from them + car loan/repairers on Monday. Am definitely going to push the minor injury claim even though it's only very mild discomfort, but currently no plans to go and sit up the local A&E for 15 hours, only to be given 2 paracetamol and told to bugger off and see GP. Will try GP on Monday if discomfort persists but expect that will involve a 45 minute interrogation by the reception gestapo before getting an appointment in 2 weeks time.

Can’t blame you for not wanting to try A&E However I’m fairly certain that any injury claim will need a medical report. Go through your GP. Might cost you a few quid mind, but will be worth it.

A few weeks back during the Amazon sale thingy I purchased a Pi DVTB HAT for £7 (normally retail for £24). I moved the TV to the middle room so that the HiFi could be relocated to the large room some time ago but the middle room does not have an aerial socket so it was just Netflix, Amazon etc (the TV is oldish so limited on what is built in such as not much in the way of Freeview) Using a PI3 I had sitting around, I installed the DVTB HAT, then Raspberry PI OS finishing off with DVTB software (TVHeadEnd). All went well so I have an old Samsung Tablet 4 so installed some software on that and connected it to one of the free HDMI ports and et-voila, we now have all the Freeview channels on the TV (I have a foldable bluetooth keyboard with built in mouse so I can control the software on the Tablet).

So today I’m delighted to be putting my new streamer (SOtM 200 ultra neo) on repeat with low volume to get some burn in. It sounds amazing. Oh yeah … and at 7:15 this morning my daughter gave birth to our first grandchild. Welcome to the world Benjamin.

Junior Audio Addicts!! I like it. In fairness, I suspect he’ll inherit the vinyl cos I’ll make sure he appreciates it! For those that like this stuff, a recommendation of this from Aldi. Wetting the babies head, but it’s so much nicer than Prosecco etc

Today I had to endure 2 hrs of my ML Summits whilst a Wammer auditioned them. I guess it wasn't that bad but I now, cant deal with the wall, of sound these produce much preferring the more gentle yet detailed presentation of the 104ab.in the end it was close but no cigar and the didn't sell, so tomorrow Is will be moving them to my bedroom for storage until I can sell them on. As got booked in for 8 weeks of private physio for the mild whiplash from the accident and it was confirmed my car will be collected Monday for repair appraisal, finger crossed they don't write it off as really like the GTC.

The KEFs must be something extremely special to make the MLs now sound so unpleasant?

Repair would be fine but you'll wait long enough for parts nowadays and depending on who your insured with they use the cheapest parts available. Oh and if you're getting a hire car remember you're entitled to like for like not a tiny little hatchback 😉 When the Jag was written off we ended up with a Volvo S90. Prior to write off notification I told them I was only wanting genuine Jaguar parts, this then pushed the damage estimate up to £13000. Car was only worth a couple of 1000 more than that so they wrote it off. If you do end up with a like for like hire car it gives them an incentive to get yours repaired asap. Oh and you're also entitled to choose who repairs it.

Warned them in advance I was 6'3" and couldn't fit in a motorised shoebox. Kindertons is the loan car/repairer, and I really. Not bothered who sorts it, its a 65 plate and would imagine wing, tailgate and bumper are vauxhall bits, as long as it looks good and I get it back I'm happy. If write off then that's when I will argue the toss on the price offered, as will want a, like for like replacement,, most people I've seen are 85k+ miles, mine is 68.4k.

Having sat with John at the Wam show with the 104ab on a low ish volume doing their thing, I’m really not surprised at all. Wish I’d discovered these many years ago. I wouldn’t swap my Ekta’s, but if a house move forces me into a smaller room then I’d explore these. I’m sure the ML’s are not unpleasant..just that the KEF’s are so pleasurable.

I think the easiest way to describe the differences I perceive are: MLs. = Musical assault. Like going to see a live band (wall of detailed sound). 104ab. = Musical caress. Like listening to a Jazz ensemble at a piano bar (detailed but insightful). I guess I just got seduced by the detailed but full blown shock and awe presentation of the MLs but ultimately used the main rig as a bloody expensive radio, dipping in and out of the music as something caught my ear whilst reading/doing other things. With system two, following the 104 rewire it changed from being something I stuck on to drown my tennent out, into something I looked forward to hearing. The sound engages me and I struggle to multi-task when it's on, its made me realise what I actually want sound-wise going forward hence the rehash of the main rig. Having connected with the 104s I now find the sound from the main rig too thick and heavy, which for me equates to unpleasant in comparison.

Today, following one of the 6550s in the Puresound dying last night, I did a quick trip to Langrex in Billingshurst (23 miles) and picked up a matched quad of Svetlana winged Cs. On my return I had a major re-jig of the main system to make way, for a hopefully new, more engaging setup. Out went the MLs, MFA Baby Ref, GamuT D200, Lector CDP7TL, and replaced by 104ab, Puresound A30, AudioLab 6000CDT. Had to dick with the shelf spacing which was fun (not) on my own, had to turn into a, bloody octopus to do it. This change certainly did the trick, the Bardo/Enterprise/Cadenza Blue/BB3 combo now sounds human and engaging with plenty of detail large, deep soundstage and good imaging, rather than a cold & clinical wall of sound, via the Puresound. Also feeding the 6000CDT into the BI along with the ZenITH, and this all now sounds far more engaging. I don't really miss the 24 bit upsampling of the Lector, and for the amount of CD replay I do now it was pointless having a £5k (rrp) CDP in the rack. Very very happy with the new setup though once I've sold the surplus stuff (removed kit & possibly the Bardo/Enterprise + excess Chord Shawline, a velvet Vortex & Pro-ject VC-E) I will look at speakers to give me the 104ab sound, but more! If that's at all possible.

I am really pleased to see the system is not pulling you into the listening though.

This is quite the departure from big ticket items! Yeah I did go a bit mad during my upward journey, but even though I bought formally 'highish-end' big ticket kit, it was all for sensible prices. I guess you could say that I learnt a lot during the upward climb and it's this gained experience that has led me to where I am now. Without this 6 1/2 years of madness and just staying close(ish) to my 2016 level I would have always been wondering 'what if' now I know, and having been there, done it and got the T shirt I can now relax, recoup most of my money, and just enjoy my choons.
