…after much back and forth, over a number of years… we finally put the house on the market. I have to say, it’s probably the Ektas that will sell the house. How ironic if we end up moving somewhere I can’t fit them in? Lol… I’m not crying.. your crying. From the agents brochure ..

ah very sad to see you are selling , hope you get a good buyer and find something nice Thank you I won’t be sad to never see the kind of energy bills we had last winter. I’ll leave that to the high earners that the area is attracting. Mixed feelings tonight though. Probably driven by the unknown outcome this process inevitably brings. I’m looking forward on the whole though.. let’s see.

Today I bought a brand new in box Jelco SA-750D in the bronze finish. I also decided on a different route for my analogue downgrade, with the Bardo & Enterprise being boxed up and stored for a while. As much as I like the Manfred ii/Cadenza Blue combo, I've decided to let it go back and fully utilise my 401. The 401 currently only has an R200 on it, which I don't feel has the ability to make the most of the Cadenza Blue, hence the purchase of the 750D. I just need to get hold of my chippy mate to mod the plinth for a bigger armboard (currently it only has a 60mm disc for Rega arms) think I may get him to make a couple of spare blank armboards whilst he's at it.

I live in Galashiels, mains here hovers around 250V and I've often seen it at 253. Since I work for Scottish Power, I had a moan to the local engineer about it, but not much can be done as it's just the way the local network is. There are some transformer replacements scheduled but that's a few years away yet, which should resolve the problem.

Arm looks good with the 401 Yeah always thought the R200 was a nice looking arm, I harvested it along with a P77 from a spares or repair Planar 3 off eBay, £20 for a motor pcb kit and new belt then resold deck sans arm for £15 more than it cost me. I then sent the R200 of to The Vinyl Source for rewire, new bias belt and service, sounds pretty good for a low cost arm and with removeable headshells it was ideal for its original 2nd system role with 80s carts (P77 Mg, OC5, EEI MCP555).

Excellent I’m minded of the time in what 84/85 when I did a cassette tape of stuff I liked at the time for my then boss… who is still a mate. To be fair it hasn’t changed much, Fairground Attractions, Van Morrison.. etc etc Anyway right at the end I shoved this… Apparently the first time he played it was in his company Sierra, with his young kids. He said he had never moved so fast to eject the tape

Brilliant band and some wonderful memorable songs from the past 40 odd years.

not a good day ... worrying about cracking brickwork on a house withy new lintels and d/g in 2019 . could be very very expensive to rectify and a pitb . as family live there and may need temporary housing in a hotel . By an amazing chance a friend is a expert civil engineer just `happened` to call by at lunch time and we could chat things over

Following a check of the Wilmslow crossovers for my 104ab (due to a perceived shifted image) by Alan and being given a clean bill of health I rewired the 104s with a decent quality stranded 0.75mm² ICE speaker cable. I'm not surprised the imaging was skewed to one side, as besides the short lengths tow-rope like wire soldered to the boards, one speakers wiring was joined to Chord Odyssey 2 via inline crush connectors and other with 30 amp chocolate box connectors to 2 core 5amp lamp flex.😂😂 Anyway having stretched my soldering skills to the limit I sat down for a proper listen the day, DAMN!!! What a difference, image is now central, bass is better defined with great mids and sweet detailed highs, it hard to think that these speakers are 45 years old. Have yet to try them on the end of my 80s Cambridge C50/A50 as I'm really, really enjoying how they sound via the Puresound A30 in Triode mode (18wpc). This is my system 2, or should I say systems 2 & 2a, as its two systems in one. The Manticore Mantra/Moth/P77 Mg, is using the Cambridge C50 as a phono into the Puresound A30 via the tape loop. Wiim Pro direct to C50 and to A30 via a CA DacMagic Plus. Speakers are QA 3010s (C 20s inbound) and kef 104ab with Wilmslow crossovers. All ICs (Monster Cable and QED) & SCs (DNM Reson & Monster Cable XL) are period correct to the late 80s CA C50/A50 Pre & Power. CDP is a Technics SL-PG440A from 94.
