stevew 7 x 2.5 litre tins, doing next door as well? I haven't had to do any painting for years, then we had some work done in the bathroom and I re-painted that. This was just the small porchway entrance, but with a high ceiling, we're going to have to get someone in next time, I'm to old now and don't have the patience nowadays.

Today in part I've been a twat and snapped the stylus on my OC9xML whilst putting on the stylus guard prior to moving an Acoustic Signature Manfred ii, with AS TA-700 arm from the top shelf of my rack to the tt wall shelf. I've had the Manfred here for a few days to audition as part of the vinyl downgrade I was looking at. Yep I've decided the Bardo/12" Enterprise 4 are going as is the BB3, so disassembled the Bardo on the wall shelf and replaced it with the Manfred. BB3 is being replaced by a pimped Jollida JD9 which should eventually get me circa £8k back in my pocket (£6k once I buy the Manfred & JD9). May even look to sell the Lector CDP7TL aswell, and buy a half decent transport.
On the good(ish) news front, Andys Puresound A30 that I bought turned up at lunchtime, dont ask me how it sounds as I don't know. Loaded the valves, added source and speakers then switched it on, one of the 2x 5Z4P rectifiers decided it didn't want to play nicely (pinkish light with pulsing white light) swapped the 2 valves round and probably blem changed position, so waiting to sort another valve before firing it up again.
I guess you could say I've had an up and down kind of day.

I realise that this may come across as protective of the BB3, it isn't, but I'd strongly recommend spending a week or two with that Jolida before committing to selling your BB3. I owned one, and it was as pimped as a JD9II can be. It didn't last very long here. I also know of someone else who frequents the WAM who sold a BB3, later bought a JD9II from that fella who pimps the Jolida stuff, and it was up for sale less than 7 days later. I understand the urge to downgrade the vinyl rig, but be careful not to make it unlistenable. On the other hand, carry on and let me know when the vinyl sale is 🤣

There's a low use AT33ev on eBay for well under budget. Supposed to worry a lot more expensive carts. I think one might be my next cart..... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195942273494?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=wJRtxRt9SS6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=_2_mrCCFSO2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Today I pulled the trigger on my replacement cart. Also got antsy because the replacement rectifier I ordered from Watford valves hasn't turned up, so still not heard the Puresound A30 I bought from Andy. Monday I scored the final piece of the jigsaw to rebuild my original 1987 system, A pair of Arcam Two Plus speakers, £20. Only problem being they were collection only from The Wirral, gave Andrew (Bencat) a ring and he agreed to picked them up for me, which he did on Tuesday and I will collect from him at the Wam show. The cabinets are a bit tired but that doesn't matter as they're teak finish and my originals were black so will give them a rub down then attack them with either some rattle can satin black or Ronseal stain and all should be good.

Actually used my hifi. I sit with iems in all day at work so seldom feel the need for music at home during a normal week.

YAY!!! Both the rectifier valves and my (new to me) Cadenza Blue turned up. Unfortunately it wasn't until 3:30, half an hour before I planned to go to Portsmouth and cook Mums evening meal. Needless to say that didn't stop me from installing the valves and switching the Puresound A30 on to warm up whilst I fitted the cart to the AS Manfred. Cart fitted (15 mins) it was back into the other room for a quick listen to John Martyn, Solid Air (Qobuz) on the A30, hmm nice, pity I've got no time to enjoy. Back into the main room for a quickie with the Cadenza and Solid Air again, hmm bit quiet Dooh!! its still on mm from the 95ml, grovel round the back and change the dip switches (Jolida JD9) ahh that's better, but still no 100% sure I've made the right choice from all the nice carts offered as the sound is a bit etched and clinical (300 Ohms) still no time to play so will change loading/vta when I get back. Finally left for Portsmouth at 4:25 and got back 7:30, right lets get stuck into this cart so another listen to Solid Air at 300 Ohms, nope, me not like so dropped to 100 Ohm, DAMN!!! This is very good I definitely made the right choice of cart. Pairing the Cadenza Blue with the Acoustic Signature Manfred ii/ AS TA-700 (potential replacement for the Bardo/Enterprise4) is a match made in heaven, it's really lifted the deck giving a rich, detailed, expressive yet clean but analogue sound. Something that I think was missing from my Uber tt which due to its DD nature was a bit too CD like, neutral, clean, precise yes but a bit clinical to my ears compared to the Manfred. I guess this is what happens when you catch the upgrade bug seeking better and better SQ, you sometimes lose your way forgetting it's about the music and your enjoyment of it. This is definitely a slightly warmer more human sound, I seem to have put the soul back into my music, who knows it may drag me back to the vinyl fold on a more regular basis.

Carried out a service on my sons car this morning and putting stuff away, I miss-judged where my ramps were and banged my head on the corner of one of them and split my skin about 2 cm's. Lots of blood but all good now - what a pillock...

lurch I think you would have enjoyed a Lenco, but pleased you like the AS Manfred. Have a 401 + rewired R200 here to go down the vintage route, but wanted a decent modern low cost (to me) tt for the main system. Seller only wants £1500 for it, its immaculate and £2500 + arm new.

Todays chaps, bit of a mixed bag, rear garden tidy, batech cooked some curries, cinema finished a rather special cable for a good friend, installed a interesting new monitor for the audio analyser/real time apsectrum analyser and oscilloscope. Installed some new test software. Now sitting down for a very pleasant evening with a nice glass of 1975 Burmester vintage port

Received a 3rd bloody enquiry asking whether I'd sell the Bardo without the arm, what's wrong with the arm that no one wants it?
Also another T27 needed for my 104ab as, one is making a weird distorted noise over the top of the music. Love the sound of these speakers but they have quite the appetite for tweeters. Still atleast I have the QA 3010s to keep system 2 running until I can sort.

spent weeks tracking down a suitable car [ and one with a cd player ] . booked to see one today but on arrival the Mrs didnt like the orange colour paint !! well it looked nice in the pictures ! and some kind soul had keyed the door !!! grrr so i didnt fancy gambling with them matching the paint
so we plumped for an older one with red paint , not cheap but cars seem blooming expensive now
then lifted a laminate floor which was a real pain and very messy resulting in lots of noise and dust , sorry to all the other flat occupants

A number of magical moments, but when they launched into ‘Blowing Free’ one of the guys in the foreground here had a melt down. Sobbing his heart out, his son put a comforting arm around him. Who knows what his story was? Yeah, Wishbone Ash - a 70’s band that can reach the parts other aging rockers can’t touch.
