That's a bummer - weren't you planning to use that house to store your stuff while you had work done? Don't suppose you fancy some off-the-reservation renovation work come spring? Course mate, happy to do what I can, though my skill set is quite narrow. Believe it or not I'm still on the lookout for a replacement door for your kitchen, still got the measurements. It's only been eight months

Believe it or not I'm still on the lookout for a replacement door for your kitchen, still got the measurements. It's only been eight months except for the electrics and the heating it's just ripping stuff out and putting better stuff back in. I can get a sparky and a gas-thingy bloke, so that's not an issue.

Sent nearly Β£900 to the wrong bank account number, need to wait until Monday to sort that out, unless it bounces back automatically due to right name but wrong acc number.

Buying nothing, was paying into my own Wise account so I could transfer a payment in Euros to pay a deposit for a holiday let.
I took the details of my own Wise account then transferred cash into it. Left my bank account fine, then when I went to check balance in Wise account I noticed that the debit card on that account was out of date, it gave me the option to delete the card so I did.
Then realised there was no deposit showing, and on checking my account details in my search for the deposit I noticed a different account number to the one I used for the transfer!
So I suspect that deleting that card has changed something, even though I took the account number from my details within the Wise app that I logged into.
Bank I paid the money from says they can do nothing and Wise only take calls Mon to Fri π
That'll teach me to try and save bank fees, mind you I was also trying to save myself typing in the long IBAN number and the greek name of the apartment owner as he is already setup in my Wise account from last year.
EDIT:
just tried a Β£1 deposit into the correct account number and it went straight in!

Still trying to sort out my bank transfer cock up.
As per usual they keep asking me for receipts statements screenshots but because my online bank account is via an app it doesn't show all the info they need on one screen and they won't accept separate screenshots with all the info they want!!!!!!
Getting balder by the minute!!!!!!!
Thing is I've told them what account the money went from, where I sent it, the amount, the time I sent it, my full account details, my full personal details, I've fully explained what I did and I'm still getting nowhere!

How do you like the Wise card Mike. I've been advised to get one for a big trip at the end of the year. Worked fine for transfers to apartment owner in Greece when I used it last time. I'll be using it again to pay deposit again this week. Worked fine on our trip last year but I recently opened a Chase account, I feel this is much better and easier to use, 1% cashback until July this year, it also puts the change from any purchases into a 'round up' account that gives 5% interest, so spend 75p and it's adds 25p to your round up account, this is optional of course. They give you a mastercard debit card and you get instant notifications to your phone of any activity on your account. I'm now using it daily instead of my bank debit card π Chase doesn't work for foreign transfers but the card works fine with no fees and uses the daily mastercard conversion rate on foreign purchases. I'm going to use it this year but I'll also take my Wise card in case of any issues with either one. Foreign use info here. www.chase.co.uk/gb/en/support/travel-with-chase/Edit: forgot to say that the Chase app is excellent too, best I've used for any bank stuff.

I've added wee bit more info and a link to foreign use NOTE the Β£1500 use limit in any one calendar month when abroad so maybe not ideal for a big trip. I didn't know that until this morning so I'll be using my Wise card abroad again as it has much bigger daily and monthly limits π

Yip, I used the Wise card a lot when in Greece last year, was handy for restaurants etc. I thought I'd used my Chase card more than I did but now I've checked I took that AND the Wise card and used both abroad. Figured safer to have a 'spare' π

my boss finished last night so as of Monday it's all on me. I think they are going to see if I crash and burn before they decide if I get the job or not.
On the plus side discovered a colleague who I go out for a smoke with is also a serious hi-fi and music nut.

Not today but yesterday, arrived back in Manchester, picked up by my brother who had driven across on the M62. He decided not to go back that way due to the snow, but to head south towards Stoke and then turn, head north east towards the M1. It was quite a bit further to drive home this way, but reading later about the delays on the eastbound carriageway on the M62 we probably made the correct decision. Not very happy to return to snow and cold weather.
