What annoys me about clearance guys is they charge + make money of the stuff. I remember a few years ago i had to get my aunts place cleared when she died (large bungalow and garage. Fookers said its £500 but you need to leave x, y, & z if they're not left then its £750, they even specified some ornaments in their selection. I ended up hiring a luton van and chucked 2 local lads £50 each to help load and dump the stuff.

Yes tips charge far more these days for taking stuff by commercial carriers .they gave me a breakdown of charges and it was at least 500 just for tipping charges
We known company in devon so quite happy with them .it was about 1700 inc vat but worth it as saves a lot of hassle .there was all sorts of stuff like oil in the garage that might be a pitb to get rid of

House clearance guys in to clear a house .furniture has very little value these days so sad to see 100 year old sideboards smashed up .but there you go Quite a big house to clear with 2 garages ( not mine) Those are not house clearance people they are just rubbish removal . Despite what many believe 100 plus year old furniture does have quite a value try and visit a local auction house and see what sells you may be surprised. Decent real Hause Clearers often attached to auction houses will sort through and pick out those things that can be sold and make you more money . Just trashing things is not a good way to go .

A few years ago, we had some rubbish removal guys clear out a house that was owned by a hoarder who threw away nothing. The rooms were all filled half way to the ceiling. The old lady had died and had no living relatives, so her house (and any items of value) became the property of the Crown I was told. I called at the job to see how they were getting on, and saw on the back of their truck an old but minty record case. The bloke in charge said it was going to the tip, but I could have it if I wanted. Inside, along with a few Max Bygraves LPs were the first five Beatles albums, all early presses on Parlophone, which looked (and sounded) virtually unplayed. Sorry Crown, these are mine

G Plan furniture goes for a bomb - when I bought my house the previous owners left a table and four chairs. I've never used them, stacked in a spare room.
Had a mate stay who knows about such things, he saw these chairs, reckoned they were worth £200 each.
They also left a cupboard/dresser thing. I doubt that is worth anything but one of the drawers was lined with newspaper, the paper was dated 1946.
It's your modern Ikea and DFS crap that is almost worthless for resale.

I will remember that .i might have to clear another house with some g plan but cant face it at the moment .already handling 2 house sales and it gets a bit stressful !!! Never realised the massive implications of becoming a poa !! Wow its so much work caring for someone , sorting nursing homes , fending off warring parties who agree with putting someone in a home and others who don t !!
I am actively avoiding the latter !! They are pitb !!

Getting near the end of my stay in Cambodia, have been sitting outside a bar drinking a few beers looking and talking to some beautiful and charmingly funny ladies, I will really miss that when returning to the uk.

Still makes me laugh when I was sitting at a hotel bar with a work colleague in Surabaya in Indonesia. A beautiful and charmingly funny lady sidled up and said ‘ Hello.. my name is Mary. Mary Christmas’

Though it's the kind of thing I'd do, if I had pyjamas. I did once go to the shops in my car, then walk home. When I got back my first thought was "someone's nicked my car!" My second thought was unprintable

house next door to me went on the market £80K ono. Thought about making an offer but got home from work next day and it was already sold.
So will be getting new neighbours at some point.
It has old people carpets and no central heating so suspect there will be some renovation first.
lets hope new occupants like Zeppelin and Steely Dan. For their sake.

Don't suppose you fancy some off-the-reservation renovation work come spring? This one that just sold has been empty for a few years now.

80 k wow !!! thats cheap !!! seen them go for less. Depends how tricked-out they are. Top end is £100K. Possible that someone bought it to flip, you could fully modernise it to a high standard for less than ten grand and still make ten grand profit on the resale.
