Must admit these days if I can't get somewhere under my own steam, then I don't bother. Won't use buses or trains as can't deal with the ignorance of others. Bellowing into phones, yobbish behaviour, allowing their brats to scream, etc. Agree completely, a journey on public transport is only as good as the biggest dickhead on the train/bus. Inevitable really, buses are largely populated by people who aren't fit to drive, so you can't expect too much from them. Maybe not as bad on trains. I haven't been on public transport in years, and with two vans, a car and two motorbikes to choose from I don't see that changing anytime soon.

The dog wasn't impressed! It is generally accepted that humans are smarter than dogs, but...

I'm fairly sure I had Long Covid at the start of the year. Pretty bad for 6 weeks or so. Main symptom was brain fog, I really couldn't think straight and had trouble completing sentences when talking. I had all the other symptoms too.
It still comes back now and then, but only briefly. I rate myself as lucky compared to many others with LC.

Today I ...... ....have COVID...and I really know about it. Oh no. Not good. Hope you recover quick. Just a tip.. might sound a bit cranky. Vitamin d. I take 4000iu per day. Same amount as dr Fauci in the states. I swear it’s helped with covid when I got it, but a few other ailments also.

Hope you're OK mate. What about the rest of the family, hope they're OK too. Everyone else has tested negative, although the gaffer has a sore throat. We'll start the VitD loading phase immediately!

Much discussion about recommended dosage levels. Including reviews of research presented by Dr John Campbell. Even people like David Davis agreed that the nhs recommendations were understated and not supported by the research.

Had a few barnies with my wife over some of this stuff. She likes to play it by the book, and takes 1 x 25 microgram (1000 iu). During the peak of lock down I was taking 8,000 iu I’ve now rowed back to the nhs max recommendation of 4000 iu, or 4x 25 microgram tabs a day… but that is just one of those high strength ones Oliver has. I’m a tad evangelical about it but only because many ailments I used to suffer from have disappeared since taking vit d, including psoriasis, some joint pains and even my asthma had improved. Might just be circumstantial, but I don’t think so. Plus when we both got covid the symptoms were not great but not as bad as I feared.

I think 4000 is the recommended amount.
You just piss out the excess anyway......so the Dr said when I was taking Devil claw.
Same principal?

Taking too much can lead to a build up of excess calcium (nhs warning) So when I lowered my dose I also started taking zinc supplements following advice. I’m told zinc helps to regulate vitamin d in the system. It’s a fascinating area, and in the myriad of videos and articles available vitamin d deficiency seems to be a root cause of many susceptibilities.

When I went into hospital with the flu a few weeks ago I was told that my vitamin D levels were very low indeed so have been given tablets to take. Glad I have watched that video which explains how important it is for the immune system to work properly.

Mrs Pete is a NHS dietician who specialises in this stuff and tbh I would listen to her more than YouTube, with the greatest of respect As said by Steve excess vitamin D can cause serious health issues, but not something that occurred over a few weeks.
However low vitamin D all so causes health issues!
Always worth knowing what we are getting into, just like researching a new pair of speakers and how they interact with your room.! 😁

Have a glass of orange juice every morning. Nah, that's vitamin C. Adequate intake of vitamin d has many benefits, including help with SAD (seasonally affected disorder) which may come from reduced exposure to sunlight in the winter months. But the optimum amount to be taking in supplement form will vary from person to person. Folk whose diet includes plenty of dairy, red meat, oily fish may well need no supplement, in fact high doses could well be a bad thing. Conversely, people whose diet is deficient in the above foods (like vegans for instance) would certainly need some supplementation. Calculating the ideal amount of supplement (if any) will be quite difficult imo, and perhaps a job for a nutritionist, if this is important to you.

I always remind myself the difference between science and scientists.
Science is always to be challenged, it is a guide to a consensus of opinions at a particular juncture in time.
Scientists can be bought.

Scientists can be bought.Gary I'm after one myself, but thought I'd wait for the January sales Know what you mean though - a scientist says one thing, another disputes that "evidence", and we have to decide who to believe.

It is vitamin C, but it also contains vitamin D, you have a glass every morning and it will help keep your colds away. What's the difference between Long Covid and Covid? I assume you mean it is taking more than a couple of days to get rid of it! That is just the way your body is working in healing itself. Don't start making up a new variant of Covid for Christ's sake.
