have you tried sticking the piano on gumtree or recycle site, free to good home? There's loads on there mate. This one has a couple of issues too. There's the odd dead key and the foot pedal is dead too. It's over 120 years old. The guy who came to fix it said he'd never seen one of these and it predated his piano Bible....same sort of blue book type thing for cars that give a price reference, except this one is for pianos. That book has pianos in from the last 100 years, and this one predates it by about 20 years he reckoned. It's been kept for sentiment. The gaffers mom bought it for her and she's no longer around so it took on a greater significance. That's why whatever I do has to be done tactfully. I have no tact, so I've not said anything at all π€£π€£ I think she's ready to let it go, so I'll be listing it today on the aforementioned with an honest description but I don't expect any takers. It's also battered lol

Round here if people don't want stuff like that they just dump it in the alley. It disappears eventually.

Send Clarkson a mail. I am sure they will find a novel way to get rid of it.

Love the exposed look.

When you get to the large values of capacitors the sizes increase somewhat,I rebuilt a large pair of Utopia Foals and one cap was 54uf and in V-Cap configuration they were we around Β£1200 each; they we also larger than my fist!.
Fortunately the vast majority of sizes will be no where near that!

New capacitors landed for my BB3 today. Cant believe how big they are π€£ Audyn True Copper Max I use some 0.33uf Tru Copper Max ones in a preamp. They are big enough themselves! Excellent sounding. Very natural with a lot of texture. Strings sound like strings, brass like brass etc. Bet that sounds lovely.

Very natural with a lot of texture. Strings sound like strings, brass like brass etc. Bet that sounds lovely. It does! I managaed to get a few hours on them before Alan visited yesterday. I think their most important (and most impressive) trait is that they dont seem to be having any negative effect. Alan and i were mainly listening to how the speakers performed and evaluating them a little more stringently than the caps in truth, but we kept coming back to the same sort of point. It was all about Clarity and how the tonality was consistently convincing. Like you say, strings like strings etc, but we were picking out instruments withing particular sections very easily. Clarinets, Violins, Cellos....it was all very easy to distinguish. How much of that is down to the caps Vs the speakers, i don't know yet, but i will in a couple of days. I am just finishing off a BB3 with Clarity Caps in and i will do a direct comparison with both phonostages with 10 hours on each sets of caps. That said, i can't see thee TCM coming out any time soon.

I'm actually using one right now in a power bypass section of the preamp along with a Clarity ESA - a pleasing combination along with the Mundorf Silver/Gold/Oil 4.3uF's doing the coupling business. These Clarity's are cheap and to my ears sound 85% as good as anything 4 fold of their price. In mid-fi gear they are a real go to.

That Audyn looks like a tadpole in comparison to these 2.2uf here lol.

Separate X-Over boxes for speakers . . . . I'm sure they do them for phono-stages/preamps also . . . Another chance to stamp a nice logo on a machined aluminum box . . . I was actually considering it for those Mundorfs in my preamp however with some 'creative ramming' they actually fit. Do need to modify the lid now though so certainly tearing up any returns policy . . . as ever

I should post some thoughts on the ODAM VCaps I put in my bb3. Its been a roller coaster break in ride but they are finally showing what they can do after about 80 hours π¬.
Certainly reaffirms that different caps in certain places in circuit can affect the sound. They are tiny in comparison to Audyns though.

The V-caps are superb, however take a notoriously long time to fully run in. I designed a test rig to use with the cable cooker, they genuinely take around 4 days 'cooking'solid to wake up

probably needed 60+ hours for some bass to appear...

Those monster 54uf models in the Focal Utopia's took around 10 days of running in at 95dB in an empty room, out of phase and with two duvets strapped to each speaker lol
They really do take an age to run in, 200+ hours of normal use imho
