It would have been wasier not to "fix" your amp. I tried it, K I couldn't go back.....once I know what I was hearing, it was obvious. It would be easier to sell everything and dump HiFi as a hobby I've dumped HiFi several times . Always went back

You had those speakers a while, I thought you were pretty happy with them.

It didn't come to light until jimbo loaned the 686 and heard it. My room being small, I just thought it was an oddity of the room... reflections off the windows etc. Hadn't heard an out of phase system so it escaped me. No it's corrected, there is no going back.

Small stand mounts being driven by a monster amp. They are going to love it....

Ah right. Didn't realise that. So now you have fixed it there's no phase cancellation in the bass anymore and it's just too much. Back to the drawing board. Look on the bright side, if this hobby was easy it would be no fun at all

HUGE thanks to misterc for taking the time to visit today. He's left me a speaker setup to play with and truth be told.....I'm pretty much over the loss of the 880's. The Quadral Galan 9 don't sound anything like I expected and the addition of the sub, which is just feathering the boundaries of the room, make the sound richer and improve scale beyond what I imagined could be got from this room. This is not a budget (in my world) solution by any stretch but it's so nice to hear the system sound so controlled, refined and.....grown up. The petulant nature of the bass has tamed and it's so nearly "spot on" I'll do some listening and report back. First, I need to make some jumpers. The ones in we're ok, but Tony put his fancy pants ones in and Christ almighty weren't the obviously better!!! I'll throw some of mine in now and see what happens.

How are the speakers and sub connected up? Is there a high pass filter?

Two speakers I heard on You Tube which impressed me and , never heard of Aurelia speakers before, and you would need subs with these and also may the Ophidians, although that could be purchased later. I would seriously try a pair of Tannoys, I like what I heard of them and also Fyne Audio.

Lots of transparency and the soundstage seems to be free of boundaries at the moment.

Yes, great to see you up and running. Thanks gents. Nice to have some good sound going on. Been listening to metal drivers since about 10:00am and my ears are not even close to falling off. It's a strange but they are surprisingly musical...
