603 S2s?
Surely you would be better off with some stand mounts in that space?

I just don't think I'd gel with Tannoys. I have a very strong feeling about that but it's totally based on the opinions of those who I trust. I should audition a pair in all truth. Piano is coming out of that room now and the guitars are moving so I can free up some space to get something to work in there. I may even be putting a new floor down and I've discovered a couple of floorboards that move quite some distance when you tread on them. Scrapping the dedicated room idea, as with the money it would cost to build, we can shave 6 years off the mortgage. Complete change of plans now but that's how it's always been for me.

They can sound terrible or glorious depending on condition, amplification, room etc. Properly sorted the only thing better are big JBLs, or electrostatics/panels if you're into the whole dipole thing, but they are different rather than better. I'd have to say those who advised you against them must not have heard them at their best. You may need to revise your 'circle of trust' Good to hear that the piano is finally getting the boot. Tony's offer is very generous, see if you can get a loan of the TAD R3 lol

Don't electrostatic need a lot of space to breathe? Dunno...never had any I have never seen a pair close up to a wall. They are normally pulled out into the room a bit. According to an ESL63 owner, I did not have space for some in my room, and it is a bit bigger than yours. I could make them work, but I wiukd need to seriously disrupt my man cave.

ESL '57' would work, they work in smaller rooms than Ollie's. Like giant electrostatic headphones.

Yup, but no....
I'd try Maggie's but would have to accept their limitations.
There is however a plan in place to try something a little more..... Conventional?

Well, it's a pair of Quadral Galan 9 and a small sub. I've never been convinced that a Sub can be truly anonymous in a system but after lengthy discussion with misterc, I'm assured it can be done and he's been an absolute legend and offered to loan me these bits until I know what I'm going to do. This is one of the reasons forums are great places....folks helping other folks out. Legendary stuff. Saturday is looking likely but I will update the status of things when I know more.

A sub can be integrated into a system. I had one with my FH3 set up. You could not see it, and it was difficult to know it was there. It was reasonably obvious when you turned it off, It took me a while to tune it in.

It would have been easier not to "fix" your amp.

It would have been wasier not to "fix" your amp. I tried it, K I couldn't go back.....once I know what I was hearing, it was obvious. It would be easier to sell everything and dump HiFi as a hobby
