I've no doubt the feet will significantly improve things. I spent enough time with suspended floors and large speakers to know that spiking them into the floor boards is a sub-optimal solution. I tried many things, little pyramid shaped plastic feet was what I settled on. They don't penetrate the carpet and underlay so the speaker is effectively floating on the carpet. Still not ideal but you're massively reducing the amount of energy going into the floorboards. I expect the Gaia will do an even better job of that. Although at £400 for 8 of them it might be cheaper to isolate the speakers with little piles of £5 notes But if they don't work I'll take those speakers off your hands so don't worry Try £600 for 8 of the Gaia II 😳 Could have made piles of £10 notes for less lol

Oh yes, just looked again, £299 for 4. I thought I saw £200.
Actually I do that quite a bit with hi-fi prices. Just the other day I was pondering on buying a bit of kit for £279. Decided after a while that I could take a punt at that price. Went back to the website and it was actually £379. Must be psychological, wishful thinking.

You aren't imagining it

Trouble is, then you add another £100 for 8. Might need a pile more notes

Surely a suitable alternative can be found for a lot less cash? £100 for 8 off spikes? Wowzers...

I plan on maybe throwing the spikes on a pair of MU25 boards and using those as bases for the speakers, then sitting the Gaia feet on top of that.

Yeah... my sorbothane feet ‘float’ on the carpet. So ordered these from Amazon. Then screw them to the floor through the carpet.

It will be.. IF... it works. Had a few blind alleys with this isolation malarkey.

OK, i have relented at the 11th hour and roughly thrown the Gaia's on the bottom of the speakers
WOW.....they have made a significant difference, even though i don't have all the logos facing the right way, which you should have.
It's not totally cured the issue. I think the task is too great in all honesty.
But it's louder than it has been for a week or so and it's far better controlled. It was pretty much wild before....now there is just the odd moments where you hear the bass take over a little.
Maybe once they are on the outriggers and set up properly they may be a little more influential. we shall find out tomorrow. This isn't something thats going to need a lot of time to reveal itself.

I am interested to hear what you think of the Gaia when you have a proper listen, as my speakers are on a suspended wooden floor, with no option to build solid supports underneath.
There were some Townsend speaker bars (size 1) on AoS for sale at around £500 so if anybody is after a set...

Kevin, the feet made a big difference and in all honesty I felt they performed better than the Townshend bars, which we also tried today. I'd take the Gaia over the Townsend bars in this application but YMMV. Unfortunately, even the best combination of isolation and port bungs have not been enough to save the 880s and they will be up for sale soon.

You are going to miss these. You will have a job replacing them. Any ideas of what you are going to get?
Is there no way you can use room correction to dial them in better?

The bars are ok but not a patch on the podiums but the price difference is big, other options are available.
However there are just some speakers that need space and nowt you can do to defy the laws of physics Captain

That the Gaia’s outperformed the Townshend bars is very interesting and testament to how good the Gaia’s are. I use a Lyngdorf amp with room perfect. Works exceptionally well at rebalancing room and speaker placement (especially bass issues). However, I doubt if the amp section is going to give you what you have already achieved with your Neurochrome amp.

I am going to kiss them, K Room correction would have to be done with a JCB as like misterc says, Physics can't be argued with.

It's probably going to be overkill for any standmount speaker but it's such a good amp that I won't be moving it on. Ever

I looked at the Gaia 3, and over here they are only €200 for 4. Quite a bit cheaper than Gaia 2. A few more Kgs and I would need the II.

Is it just the floor or is the room too small for them?
If it is just the floor the sand trays I suggested would almost certainly sort it. Cheap to try.
If it is the room as well use dsp.

It's both mate....if it was just the floor, them slabs, sand and height from the floor may do the trick, but they are too big..... It's not gonna work and I have tried.
