Some of the chaps have used tin foil for now (or foil/kapton tape), otherwise Farnell or RS for the micro coax connectors should be a plug bung in there somewhere Oli Cheers T

Out with the Gold, In with the new....black caps 😂 The Gold Nichicon are 3300uf 25v 1.9A ripple, the new Nichicon are 3300uf, 35v with 4.19A ripple ESR is 1.5 for both cap types Sonically, this DAC is now completely unrecognisable from the stock version I bought. The socket changes were a big change, but this is a whole new ball game. This DAC now slams and hits hard in the LF, but transparency is the mids has significantly increased too. Fantastic sounds. The caps and WBT sockets cost more than the DAC, but the result is an EXTREMELY high performance level. Blown away by what's hiding in this DAC...stunning. I'd happily put this DAC up against anything Ive heard or owned, and whilst it may not beat everything, at everything, I'd be smug as a bug with the cost V performance level. The combination of the Kenwood X9010's tendancy to be a little heavier in the LF than anything else I've tried transport wise (file or CD), and the new harder hitting grip and tightness of the D70S's LF is a real treat. It may not be the same in other systems and combos, so please keep it in mind that this is VERY system dependent. YMMV in your system.

Hi Dave, I apologise, i have only just seen this post of yours! Yes, i am aware of this fella and his reviews. I quite like his style of writing and in a lot of ways his opinions on the D70S do seem to tie in with what i have heard from it. Even if he is using KEF speakers lol (just joking!) I am compelled to say that the D70S with modifications is performing digital magic in my system at least. I am a huge fan of it and i think i could push it even further with a few more judicious mods, especially around the voltage regs. That said, i don't have the tools to do that work, so i may have to sub contract misterc for that part. I will see how things go as i have other projects currently underway.

Nothing to do with Dave. Don't worry though, i don't really expect you to fit new regs on a peasants DAC

Genuinelly Oli, we have over 100 units in for repiar/upgrade/servicing, not including the Wadia projects. I would like to say that over 40% of the itesm we have to work on are under the £1K mark. Currently more folks are going for the upgrade route as opposed to 'Doing a Jerry' quite strange times.
Next week, I will place an information banner on the visable Social Media & website incoming work is suspended for a month to overload!

Nothing wrong buying another streamer, but I'm not so sure the same can be said for selling your previous one.

I still think CD via the Kenwood has great merits, but the addition of the stack feet is demonstrating greater differences between Alan's X50D and the Kenwood. I'll do a little writeup at some point, but it should be interesting
