Music rental is cool. My preference is now for a rolling wave of music exploration. I'm usually no longer interested in stuff I listened to a few months back. And if I do want to revisit, it's almost always still there.
So much new music to explore, rental is great for this. I'd need an ever growing warehouse to store the damn CDs.

Yeah, that's certainly a huge plus factor. Maybe I'll revisit it at some stage. Having said that my music preference is probably too weird for much of my stuff to be on there . . . a lot is "vinyl only" (becasue 'some' artists and labels think thats super cool ).

Tell more about music rental, my only experience is borrowing cds and vinyl from the local library You pay Qobuz or Spotify or Tidal or Amazon etc £10 - £20 a month to access their music streaming services. The point seems to be, I think, that you don't own the music media. And this seems to bother some folks. Personally I think it's wonderful and allows immediate access to a whole world of music. This doesn't seem to be advantageous to some folks. We're all different, eh!

Swopped over my Quad's for Tuolihao's last night, now listening and they're sounding great, anyone want any Quad 57's at a good price?

I've just replaced the Phillips 6189's for a new pair of Psvane 12AU7-T's. Didn't expect the improvement I'm getting, I knew the 6189's gave a lower output, so obviously I don't have to turn the volume knob quite so much, but clarity has certainly been upped and yet there is still a nice warmth to the sound. I may bring back a pair of GE 6189's which are in my RFTLYS in Cambodia.

Hi Dave,
nice to see someone else still on a valve rolling journey!
Just my advice but ultimately the 12AU7 is quite a limited valve, both in terms of dynamics and clarity. If your transformer will allow (and I'm 99% sure it does) try some 12BH7's in there or perhaps some E80cc's.
In my experience both of these valves leave any 12AU7 a long way behind. (Especially new production ones). I'm certainly not saying they can't sound good, sometimes a 'lesser' valve just fits better within a given circuit but in about 4-5 instances over the last year or so with preamps and DAC's (Audio Note, Prima Luna, Deco Transfer), replacing the 12AU7's with the aforementioned has yielded a leap in performance.

These Psvane 12AU7-T's are great when listening to music at low levels, I do this early morning, but maybe a touch over powering if turned up. They remind me of the old loudness button. I did put in a bid on a pair of 12BH7's but lost out, I didn't want to pay much since I would still like to hear my GE6189's and I may also have another set of 12AU7's in Cambodia.

Gone back to my Phillips 6189's, the Psvane's are ok when listening at very low volumes which I do early in the morning, but turn the sound up a little and they can become too much and edgy. The 6189's are much more even sounding and listening again at low volumes still very enjoyable.
I have hopefully swopped my Quad 57's for a pair of LS3/5a's, never heard this speaker before, they will have a tough job replacing the Tuolihoa's which are sounding fantastic at the moment. If I can manage to fit the LS3/5a's into my hand luggage they could well end up in Cambodia, my JBL 1's really aren't up to the task.

I think you'll like the LS3/5a. Even I like them!

I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying my system as it stands, bringing the Tuolihao's back in and they sound great. I'm now using the Eversolo A8, I did feel the Soekris was maybe slightly more full bodied but using the internal dac I don't appear to get any nasties.

My Quad's were swopped for a new pair of NVA Cubes a couple of days ago, I know the new owner is very happy and is looking forward to stacking them with his own pair. I've owned Cube 3's before and know how good they are, I've had them running in and they sound good. I had hoped they might fit in my hand luggage, unfortunately they are too heavy and a little big. They could be sold, I'd be able to buy a pair from Ali Express with the money, or I may still keep them.

Well one of my EH 300B's failed yesterday, I had the feeling one channel was playing at a slightly lower level, then everything seemed ok, so may have been going downhill for a few weeks. Whatever, it hasn't lasted long with less than 500 hours on the clock. I've researched a few options within my budget and this morning purchased a pair of JJ's, I read a good review, they're what come with Audion amps, and seem to have a long life expectancy according to reports so hopefully I will like them. At the moment the original Psvane's are doing duty and sounding very nice, they will go back in their boxes when the JJ's arrive, it's nice to have a spare set.

I received my JJ 300B's last weekend but have since had a problem with the Phillips 6189's. I replaced with a spare pair of Psvane 12AU7's and all was well. Anyway came across my GE Jan 6189's, thought I'd taken them to Cambodia to use in the amp over there, apparently not, so have stuck them in and the Yaqin is sounding better than ever. Here's a piccy taken a few minutes ago and sounding fantastic with some Gert Emmens.
