The front panel was finished today. After a lot of indecisive thinking about how I want the panel to look, the choice was taken out of my hands. Unbeknownst to me, the was a dent in the front panel. I hadn't really inspected it as i was focussed on the rest of the stuff I had to do to get this up and running. Long story short, and a few other imperfections coming to light, I opted to have a line machined, this removing a minor, but now visible mark, and we took the small symbol from the Neurochrome logo to hide the dent. It's not how I imagined it when I started out, but I think it's actually turned out pretty well. Fitting the front panel effectively marking this build as complete. Huge thanks to phonomac for his help drilling and tapping the holes, and for the use of his excellent power supply supply. Now, it's time to build some Phonostages. Yes, very classy and understated. Well done! Who did the work on the front face? Thanks Bruce, It's done by a local company in Walsall. One man band, but he's got top class machinery.

looks very classy but please tell me you didn't use a blue led on the power switch... Not just blue, ELECTRIC BLUE 🤣 No, it's white, Macca. Couldn't find an amber one. If it's not blue then that's a win. I can't believe no-one makes the proper colours, gap in the market there.

I've never heard someone despise a colour so voraciously 😂 I have blue on practically all my boxes, most not by choice (although some). It's the least intrusive colour for late night listening by far apart from possibly orange/amber which as we know are practically impossible to find.

I have blue LED on my DCB1 but I stuck some duct tape over it. It's so bright you can still see it clearly through the tape.
Krell KSA50S also has blue LED but it's tiny and not very bright. And CD transport has blue display that must have come from about 1983, the letters in its messages are so crudely formed it makes me laugh.
Yamaha, Tascam and Topping don't seem to have any trouble finding the proper colours though.

Ah okay the brightness thing I get, yes very annoying that, you can clearly see it's on but no need for maximum lumins at listening position. I too would prefer the topping/soncoz approach of colour scheme but no option in the DIY power buttons it would seem.... They do need to make some

12v.....ok if using a soft start but not for things like Phonostages. They have to be 250v. Also, the one on the 686 is a whopper .... 22mm

Won't fit on anything over 4mm thickness, so 10mm from panels would need work to get the switch to fit. Not worth the aggro. Also, no real way to fix them in place. Held in by plastic clips.

I'm looking at blue led's on black facia kit and I think they look fine, although I'm not too bothered about the colour, my dislike is if they are too bright.
