It took him two decades to realise his cartridges were toppy? 😂 No, he loved it. Why did he have it fettled - it seems like false economy based on the level of cartridge he'd be moving into. It wouldn't be a 2M Black after the change, either.

He made some very astute decisions around that time, and that was one of them. I wish they'd fitted the Replicant 100 to the LVB. I'm not keen on Shibata profiles.

The Shibata is doing a very nice job on the end of this CB. The bass has really developed into quite a force over the first 10 hours or so of listening. I think it’s plumbing even greater depths than the Bronze did, but it has more texture and without the slightly excess warmth of the Bronze there is more detail and clarity through the midrange and upper bass.
I was listening to a song by Greta Van Fleet last night, and two things struck me. First was the power and dynamic precision of the drums and the second was how I was able to follow a rapid meandering bass guitar riff and hear the start, stop and tone sound of every pluck, where previously it was just a low frequency ‘impression’.
As good as the Bronze is, I’m really liking the more neutral balance and the additional detail of the Black, and it’s not at the expense of richness or tonal colour.
I’m pretty sure when I bought my Bronze, that was £1500 (I managed to get mine for £1300) and the Black was £2000. Now the Bronze is £1800 and the Black is $2100, I think buying new, it makes a lot more sense to stretch for the Black.

Lots of Caddy Black fans out there.
