Convenience sells....hence the boom in streaming. Hard to resist clicking a button and instantly having a 2 million album collection. Another thing that would have been unimaginable back in the day.

I read somewhere that the world we grew up in is the one that we will always regard as 'normal' and so the older we get and the more things change, the more alien it all seems to us.
We're fish out of water. A bit like 'Back To The Future', only in reverse.

lol - yes I know people who drive two miles to the gym, do four miles on the treadmill, and then drive home. Reminds me of a photo I saw of the front entrance to a gym in the states, California most likely and could have San Francisco due to the steep road, you actually used and escalator rather than stairs to get from the pavement to the door.

The motor assemblies have arrived for the remote attenuator units. The remote is bloody heavy and feels very good in the hand. Cannot wait to get this into the proper casework and built up properly.

Remarkably, I've now got three of these to build, and I haven't even built the full version of my own yet.
I have been trying (and failing) to locate some PC-TRIPLE C or DUCC wire to use in the builds as I thought it would absolutely epic.
However, it seems that unless you have some help from Japan, there is little chance of finding anything of a suitable gauge at a reasonable cost.
I could use the internal wire from the SAEC or Acoustic Revive interconnects, but at £200 for 2m, it's seems a little excessive.
From recent feedback, I have decided to ditch the gold plated OCC and return to Normal bare OCC copper, so unless something of interest turns up, that part of the R&D is done.

Ha!
We now have acquired some PC-TRIPLE C hook up wire! 28AWG!
Not cheap, but I am seriously excited by this development.
Can't wait.

28AWG, is that a single strand?

Just got some 16AWG and 14AWG Neotech OCC and that Teflon sure makes it springy, though I can manage for single runs. If I was to use 22AWG solid core for hookup wire, it seems a twisted pair would be fighting me the whole time while soldering! Do you have a trick?
Oli, I'm guessing there's no source of TripleC wire coming soon, whether 22, 24, 14 or other?

No, I'm happy to share, but you'll laugh because we're butchering headphone cables for it 🤣

Started on the first of four builds I'm doing. Layout is challenging due to the small casework I selected, but it's starting to take shape.

Why did you not buy a larger case, or does this come in on size fits all?

Been beavering away this morning. It's coming on nicely. Need to get the back panel over to the machine shop for some hole drilling and marking for input etc, but I'm hoping to have this complete very soon. Poor guy has been waiting a couple of months now 😬

Nice double use of the switch support bracket. Fabricated something similar (well not me a welding mate, but I was there) to go just before a diff transfer box for the prop shaft on a land rover. Love some proper engineering

How close does the traffo bolt come to the lid Oli? Gonna need some clearance so it doesn't act as a shorted turn.

How close does the traffo bolt come to the lid Oli? Gonna need some clearance so it doesn't act as a shorted turn. It's about 10mm away, but I am changing it for a shorter one. I just used that one to get it in place so I could wire it all up and see what length bolts I do need.
