Always in jest sir, I don't know how you keep this many balls in the air to be honest. Coincidentally I was actually going to enquire about a preamp the other day but slipped my mind with everything. Will message you anyway mate.

And I want to put it up against my MFA Baby Reference V1. I predict you'll be selling the MFA and pocketing the difference.

I said I'd keep updating this thread as things develop, and today things have certainly developed! After receiving some enquiring questions about the BT2, it became clear that the lack of remote control (for volume adjustment) was a stumbling block. I have been using the Angus made AWM Stepped attenuator, and we won't budge, because it's bloody awesome. .....so after some emails too and from the USofA, we have found a small manufacturer who will supply us with a motor assembly & remote control for the AWM Stepped attenuator! A deal has been struck, and initially 5 units will be on their way to the UK next week. 4 of these are already spoken for! Lots happening here at the minute. Motor assembly and remote (aluminum body):

Should be a very worthwhile addition to the pre.

The odd times I have had remote control pre-amps I find I end up riding the volume a lot and it gets on my tits. I like to stick an album on, set and forget. Having remote control will deffo increase sales though. So many bone idle bastards out there

So many bone idle bastards out there In fairness, our community is an ageing one, and with mobility and accesability being such a big factor, the remote unit was a wise choice for those who may need it. However, if you don't need it, you don't have to have the remote. It will be an optional extra.

But how will that reflect in the resale value as the audience will be less for a none remote unit....... (only kidding)

The dynamic and SPL contrasts, not just between albums and genres but between tracks, can be significant as my system allows huge volume swings. Don't like being shocked out of my seat at 00:54 when I could be lightly grasping a glass of decent single malt and gently nodding off in a daze.....

I think it's mainly the youngsters who regard remote control as a necessity. Most of us are old enough to recall when you had to get up and walk over to the telly just to change channels.
I can even remember when you had to manually tune in the channel to watch it, and pre-tuned channel selector switches were the big leap forward. Seems unimaginable now.
Obviously anyone under 45 is a youngster as far as I'm concerned.

Obviously anyone under 45 is a youngster as far as I'm concerned. Yup I think you're right to a certain degree there. I was fine for years manually changing volume until I happened ed to get a pre with remote, just found it incredibly useful. It may be an age thing, case in point a lad I work with (he's like 20!) Goes to the gym 3-5 times a week, treadmill weights, all that Sh#t. Then drives 500yrds down the road to buy his lunch, drives back and eats it. I've pointed this out to him but he does not see the irony, it's just how people are conditioned I guess. "Youngsters" dont tend to question much these days.

lol - yes I know people who drive two miles to the gym, do four miles on the treadmill, and then drive home.

Of course I have to get up to pick a cd and put it in the player so I'm already up and at the rack anyway, if you have this streaming thing then I suppose you are picking the music without having to move from your chair / chaise-lounge /day bed / bed /mattress on the floor. I do have remote control of volume on the TV system, tried doing without that and it got old real quick.
