The case is arriving today. It is time to order the standoffs, so I can start positioning all the bits.
I assume a small piece of aluminium will be ok for a Mezzanine? 2mm thick should be fine?

Hey mate can I ask what the reason for adding the mezzanine is? I’ve been discussing with Tom and he says that with a single supreme 800va traffo , all of the boards will fit into the chassis fine no issues . I would only need a shelf if using two traffos. Is this what you are planning ?

Because I am fitting two 400VA transformers.
And don't forget the new amp boards don't match the CAD files. The mounting hole spacing is different.

Wasn’t sure if I’d missed a trick . And yes Tom is doing me a new cad file for my requirements so all is good there. Cheers

Well, I got my "Ikea" case today. It arrived flat packed... Unfortunately, they drilled the heat sinks identically, meaning that one side of the case will be arse about face. Dropped them an e-mail to see what they have to say/propose....

They drilled the heatsinks exactly the same on the left and right sides. I placed the Guardian 686 near the rear panel in the drawings. When I fit the heatsinks to the case, the LH is correct, and the RH has the Guardian 686 near the front. SO, input and output cables will be different lengths, unless I use a crazy route...

That's a pain. They will just have to do it again for you, it's their fault.

They have already replied asking for pictures. I am confident they will put it right.

Oooops....that's gonna be costly for them.

Feeling lest confident now, as although the plan drawing shows that the Mod 686 are installed near the front and the drawing clearly shows the front panel location, I got the following response: I have responded politely, pointing out the mistakes in his response... Looks like I need to think about drilling the correct holes myself. I am really pleased I paid for it to be done properly.

Gianluca is a very reasonable guy and I've dealt with him a fair bit, so don't be put off by that response. Translation between languages can also an issue. Wait and see.

I shall wait and see. I was polite. Being polite always helps. Worst case, my amp will have a few more holes in it. There is no real argument when this plan view was included in the drawings provided.

I have ordered most of the remaining parts I need for this now, including the drills I need to put the new holes in the case. I already have the taps. I will be able to reuse some of the existing holes, but I have a few to drill and tap. It's a shame. Modushop have not yet responded to my polite e-mail pointing out the error of their ways... So, I have given them a polite prod.
I just need to order my mezzanine, and fasteners for the traffos.

Mezzanine and fasteners ordered. Just need the harnesses. May as well get Tom to add these to my order, then I don't need to worry about crimping the JST connectors.

The mezzanine is going to be a 150mm x 250mm shelf, 3mm thick aluminium alloy. This will give me plenty of space to fit the power 686 on, and it will cover the two Traffos nicely, as they are 135mm diameter.
The case is probably going to look a bit empty.

Playing with the layout seems to be the done thing, so as I have to reposition one of the Guardian 686s, I may as well fit them to the base plate?
