Toroidy Supreme Audio grade worth the extra for the shielding?

New board and parts ordered.

All my own fault!

The good news is that I have had a nibble out of the blue on the FB Monos.
Fingers crossed that they will go to a good home, and I can get some Mod 686 boards ordered this month.

I will need a mahoosive biscuit tin though.

The new parts are already in the post, apparently.

400 va is good for 400 watts, assuming 100% efficiency, which is impossible. 65% is typical real world, so its comfortably enough for 200 watts, more like 260, so its 30% overrated.

I asked Tom the question.
For Max power, he recommends a 2x25VAC, 400VA Transformer per channel.
A safe build, 2x22VAC, 250VA Transformer per channel - about 130W into 8 ohms.
For the 2x24VAC, he recommends a 300VA transformer, so 400 will be ample.

Probably Toroidy Audio Grade.
They are in Europe, so I avoid import tax etc.

The limits on clipping are the current delivery of the output devices and their output impedance, unless you have tiny traffos, adding more va cant improve beyond the limits of the output stage once you reach sufficient va.

With 6 paralleled output devices itll drive down to 2 ohms at more than sufficient volume. Certainly better than my '486' manage.

Still better at driving low impedance loads than my bridged 2+2 per side
