This is the only thing that puts me off expensive MC cartridges. You seems to have blasted through yours in next to no time. The HA was purchased in late February 2020 and I have possibly put 700-800 hours on it since then. Thing is, I wouldn't have put so many hours on it had I not been in shielding, recovering from the hand operation and what not all at the same time. But 700-800 hours is W#nk for a €1850 cartridge, and believe me I'm not entirely happy about it. It's under 12 months old but stylus wear isn't covered by the statutory laws for purchases in the EU, of have thought. I may be doing it a great disservice and it just needs a good clean, but my gut tells me it's fucked. What I have always known with this cart is that I wouldn't pay for another, and when it dies, it dies. €1850 is too much money IMO for anything with an expiration date under 1000hrs, and the amount of vinyl that gets played here the cartridge needs to be more robust. This will go back to Kilian, either for me to have repaired/cleaned....or I may let someone else have a go at it at a greatly generous price. I'm still thinking and have a guy already interested in buying it "as is" That said, I view these things as an opportunity and the Goldring got it's shot at impressing me. So far....it's doing itself proud. |
