Going to chart my Lenco restoration/adventure here. Might take a while but hey wtf! 🙂
Will clean it up a bit today and then have a read around the subject on Lenco heaven. Think I might refurbish to stock and then see if I want to go the ptp route after.
Have to consider the usual, bearings, wiring, motor etc. Also see if I can repair the arm.
Bit of an impulse purchase as I wasn't planning to do something Lenco until next year. Ha!

I quite like the plinth style , not the normal boxy type.

The inner arm piller has snapped but all the other bits are there. Will see if Araldite fixes it.

Got your work cut out there. Yeah, motor works though and the platter goes round and changes speed. So it could be worse lol.

Not too bad. Araldite should do the job but.... Grease is easy to clean. Motor whipped out and serviced. Metal wheel replacing the plastic one (unless the plastic one is not out of true and the rubber not to dried out then will do!) Replace oil (if any left) in the spindle bearing and probably the ball bearing and the bush at the bottom. Everything available on the tinterweb or Lenco Heaven. (You probably know all of the above ;

I have an arm pillar if araldite doesn't fix it. Wondering if that idler is original? Is there a date anywhere on the TT, there is one on mine.
Doesn't look too bad at all.

Thanks Alan , will let you know. No date but the serial number is 5185 so should be traceable I guess. Bearing out and degreased, big dent in the thrust plate! I have a new one and ball on the way.

You could have just reversed the thrust plate. You've actually got a tidy deck, I've seen some real crusty examples in the past.

Ah yes never thought of that. still it was pretty cheap so no worries. empty plinth and arm shots. The chrome needs some attention and the bearings are knacked. To be expected but there is no sag in the tube.

Looks like the armtube is pretty scratched up, that's a PITA, I remember restoring a DECCA tonearm and spendig hours and hours with the 3000 wet and dry.

Aye , me too . I currently use a stock GL75 with a Shure M55E / Jico stylus . These are great turntables for restoration because of their simplicity and reliability . Lencoheaven is a fantastic source of information for the would be restorer

Brian get your GL75 into a weighty plinth and it makes everything more 'solid'. Was the best upgrade for mine.

So cleaned the main bearing today and replaced the thrust pad and regreased and oiled it. Polishe the top of the spindle with 2000 grit as there was some slight corosion there.

Ahhh fond memories of stripping mine down. I also ultrasonically cleaned mine. It sure removed a load of crap, not sure if it had any impact on the efficiency of the bearing.

Looking good. If you want that extra nice polished finish on the spindle try some Autosol polish. It is also very good for polishing the platter.

Thanks chaps, will have a look at autosol. On the underside of the platter there looks like some corrosion, some white flaky bits need to be taken off with some wet and dry I think. .

So it's pissing down today which is perfect Lenco project weather as far as I can see. Started taking the mechanics off the tol plate, all a bit corroded. A bit of wet and dry should renew them.

Arm bearing parts , the top snapped off but it looks like it's been glued before and its broken on the same line.
