It's simple, just give everyone of working age Β£300 a week, irrespective of their employment status. And fine anyone who breaks the isolation rules. Carrot and stick.
Mortgage, rent and bank loan holidays should be similarly enforced for all, no need to pay employers anything if you do this. Everyone can survive on this, including buy to let landlords who will have no outgoings or income.
This covers everyones essential outgoings, food, energy, etc when you remove their major expense, accommodation.

100% agree with you, Dave it is just selfish, moronic behaviour. If you're referring to me Paul, what moronic behaviour have I committed. In the last week we went to Morrisons at 6.30am to do the weekly shop. We went to Iceland on Monday [walked, we are only 7 mins away] and this morning Wednesday, we will be going to Morrison again. They don't open till 8.00am now so will be leaving here at 7.45am. My comments previously did not say I was wondering around willie nilly, infecting people with the virus. I said I should have the right to be able to go out, in fact I do until they change the law. I can assure you my actions since this virus became news have been what I would call impeccable, making sure I am getting plenty of vitamin C and keeping warm, like I said only been out twice in the last week, less than 1 hour away from home. How many can say that? This particular post wasn't directed at you, Antonio.

If PaulD has called my behaviour moronic I expect a full apology, never mind about passions running high. It does not give him the right to judge other members, when he has no idea of their behaviour when the emerge from behind a keyboard. I never said I was behaving badly only I should have a right to think for myself, if that's moronic behaviour I'm a nun. As for Engine's posts they make me laugh as well, and I ignore his transgressions. I will not apologise for anything I said in relation to your original post because I did feel it was both a selfish and ignorant point of view. At no point have I said you were moronic, you have read something else I wrote and put 2 and 2 together and made 6, or maybe it is that you have realised your original statement was maybe a bit foolhardy.

pauld antonio I have just reviewed the thread and no, pauld was no calling you moronic. I agree with that. However, I do think that less stoic (?) wording could have been used and did say that at the time, which was also acknowledged So, Dave, no one thinks You're a moron and paul, I expect less stoic-ism( ) Not sure how to word that. Anyway, at a time where thousands are dying of an invisible virus, let's not start piffeling over, what seem to be trivial (at this time) wording. Pull together, for the greater good. PS, I may have just invented three word there. Shakespeare did that too you know.

A lady friend of mine popped into Tesco to fill her car up with petrol. Another car pulled up at the facing pump and a big chap got out waving his hands about telling everyone to move well away as he had just come down from Yorkshire to self isolate. He was being rather abusive towards the locals I might add and too much to type here.
Apart from the complete arrogance and ignorance of this jumped up twat, she had to remind this knob-head that Cornwall only has one hospital in the whole county with a total of 11 intensive care beds and we were fairly free of the virus without his contribution to the risks he may be importing. I would have kicked him in the balls had I been there.
For some people, if you took their brains out and put a turd in there you would at least double their intelligence

I have re read your post and understand I was mistaken. My post was to imply that I am old enough, and also wise enough to make my own decisions, and nothing to do with my up and coming behaviour which I consider has had my safety and others as paramount. Like I said I have only been outside 3 times in 8 days, and will not be going out again until next week. Like many it has given me chance to tidy the garden in the good weather.

I have just removed the protective cover from the pool, and started cleaning it and getting the levels right. It was nice weather, so why not.

If Matt 'The Knobhead' Hancock says it's okay for builders to squash themselves onto the tube with DR's, nurses and other real key workers so that they may go and do non essential work on site then I doubt the Police will have any grounds to arrest anyone. And now for a bit of a reality check. I'm a bricklayer working on site everyday and though I don't fall into this category myself I work with plenty of guys who have young families and live from paycheck to paycheck, our site actually closed this morning and so after this Friday (we are still paid weekly) they will have no more money coming because being self employed we fall though the cracks a bit and will recieve possibly if they are lucky SSP at less than Β£100 per week. I would imagine that feeding and taking care of a young family somewhat overides any feelings they may have over possibly stretching the NHS. I feel for your situation natara and for all those connected with the building trade. A Cabinet spokesman, a Mr Jenrick today told the media that any businesses, and that includes including builders, that cannot guarantee that labourers stay more than 2m apart should be shutting down. It's now unequivocal and will be enacted into law later this week or next week under the Coronavirus Bill. As common sense is not prevailing, the government's hand is having to be forced. I feel for all those affected financially. I'm self employed myself and have seen a halving or more of my income streams since this started, and yes, I have a family to support and bills to pay too but it's a small price to pay if we are to save lives. I am now cancelling all visits to RFC for any purpose until this is over unless the person travelling is dropping off or picking something up in the name of work which may be permissible under current guidelines. Everything can be done by essential services such as courier for these activities anyway. The government aren't suggestion we all close all of our businesses down, but that we avoid contact with others and unnecessary travel. I too feel for any small business owner at the moment it's an horrific moment in all our lives but what I'm describing is food on the table not a 25 or 50% loss of revenue. We are all right to pressure this government to do the right thing and shut down all non essential business but not before financial provisions have been firmly put in place for those most affected. We are led to believe that the chancellor is going to make provisions for all self employed, zero contract, freelance and gig economy workers tomorrow and not before time but like everything to do with this government it's all a bit reactionary, lastminute.com.

At the chemist's earlier, a queue of 10 including me outside.
Woman in her 50s pulls up in a drop top Audi, ignores the queue and strolls up to the chemist and starts to try and get served.
Woman behind the counter tells her there is a q and she needs to join the back of it. She refuses, a few people tell her to get to the back and she ignores them. I lose my rag and bollock her really loudly in front of queue.
I'm about 3rd in it btw.
She turns round, sees me raging at her and decides to Foxtrot Oscar rather sharpish.
Queue applauded. Job done.
People are behaving like proper knob heads and only cementing my belief that as a race, humans have become increasingly self centred and selfish..if Covid19 doesn't wipe this streak of selfishness from the human race, Covid 21 definitely will.

She was full of self importance, acting like we were all there to take whatever was available at the chemist, and leave her with none. Panic prescribing. Couldn't be more wrong. Sun was out, everyone one was observing the 2m rules..peaceful.
It was ridiculous.
I couldn't help myself. Just happened organically. I hate queue jumping.

both the manager and myself went into work today to say we dont feel safe so we are going home, our work is not essential.the boss didnt like it as he's a control freek and the fact that he's not taking any steps or precautions whislt we are at work just makes it too much of a risk imo.he is very much a money before people person!

We had a similar thing with the company continuing with non essential training courses. We had to address the bigwigs but they relented this week and postponed them. We are key workers but the course is for new technologies which haven't been approved at Local Level (RMT reps, Like me) Glad you stood up for the right thing.

I hate having a glass half empty but this bitch virus isn't stopping is it ? Everytime a country thinks it's beating it the fucker adapts and the deaths rise again ! Not one country is having any success with it are they ? Whoever made it did too good a job. It probably wasn't Intended to kill everyone The boffins are not even lying about discovering any weakness with it ! You know you're knackered when the politicians don't even lie to you about the progress to put a brave face on ! Only Trump , due to his sheer stupidity. The world is going to have to admit it cant beat it soon. Then just hope it weakens on it's own. It's going to be a filthy pitiful death planet by this summer. You heard it here first. So ... have a nice day . ππ

Best thing you could have done Jamie. Your boss obviously underestimates the risks, doesn't care, or both. There'll be a fair few tribunals after this is all over, meeting to discuss unfair dismissals across the country for similar reasons. Businesses cannot afford to be stupid about this as it will cost them more in the long run as they'll have to price in replacing anyone they "let go" so I figure most will have to take it on the chin and shut up shop or wind down to tickover where they are permitted to carry on. They have an obligation to your Health in law and any employer failing to meet those standards is leaving themselves wide open for prosecution. It will happen, to make an example of the worst offenders.

The new cases in Italy are decreasing for the third day in a row. I reckon I have about 4 more weeks of confinement ahead of me.

To clarify the point, there are more people leaving the hospitals than entering them.
