Muddy Waters is just a bit too far on the folk side for me. I mean 'Folk Singer' the clue's in the title. JLH is about as far as I go down that road.

Their new album. Not really my genre but I fell for the first side of the record. These first numbers tune into something quite magical - like an analogical tunnel connecting us to each other with the hope of a new day rising. Don't think I have felt it so strongly since Neil Diamond's Crunchy Granola Suite. The second side dissipates into commercial sleaze with the last song ending with "Amen a friend". Yuck.

I like the early Doobies albums but I think only 'The Captain And Me' is essential. Didn't realise they had a new one out.

And talking about "analogical tunneling". This guy can also do it. This record is a reincarnation og the early days with CSYNY, and he really achieves getting back to the garden where: And I feel Like I've been here before Feel Like I've been here before And you know It makes me wonder What's going on under the ground. Excellent Stuff.

Right now I’m grateful for Qobuz allowing hi quality instant access to this kind of stuff.. plus another rave for how this album was made to demonstrate what a Mutec can do in your system. I know.. I could bore for England. On top of which ‘Rodriguez For a Night’ is like finding a new Steely Dan track,

Zig? Short for ? Or nickname..? Well it was actually my dog's name. Ziggy. I miss her. The new one's called Nova as in Nova Scotia. And after that there is Emma & Orla. Two sausage dogs and a pointer. Glad you liked Crosby. I haven't been too happy with what the other three have been doing of late. But this one's a wringer. Zig

How come these guys (Kenny Wayne, Johnny Lang) were so much better when they were teenagers than they are now?

Not really paying attention… I suddenly heard ‘ The Four Horsemen’ from Aphrodite’s Child on the telly tonight (some advert) My god, that took me back. Haven’t played it in decades. Mind you I remember listening to it with a flacky mate of mine in the early 70’s. Nearly gave him a nervous breakdown

The current crop of new albums hasn't appealed to me other than Crosby and this one. I was actually very disappointed with my first listen. It is one of those records where they have recorded it in bits and pieces. He sat in a room with his guitar and afterwords they added some drums and bass. I don't think this works as a strategy for "wholesome" listening. And the numbers defy narrative structure - no beginning, no middle and no end. This is not analogically satisfying. But then I changed my perspective. I listened only to Ford and the tones he makes on the guitar. They are varied and quite wonderful. Thoroughly recommended - but not as music. Only sound.

Harry Connick, Jr. - She
I remember taking my girlfriend to this concert in 1994. It was a sultry summer evening in Houston, him on stage in one of the city parks, and us sitting on a blanket on a grassy hill. One had to sit on a blanket to keep from being bit by fire ants, but we did ok with the blanket. Boy were we surprised when song after song was not crooning but funk, but we were game and it grew on us. I bought the album even though a lot of people panned him for such a big departure from his first albums. I think it was a combination of the old fan base not appreciating the new fan base he was trying to create... and a white issue with funk that was more consdired a black genre. Of course, the album has its eccentric bits and I still enjoy it.

It’s probably at 4/5:00 in the morning I really appreciate having a man cave that’s far enough from anyone else to play music at reasonable levels without waking anyone else. Especially this album, so well recorded but suits the mood that speaks to you before the rest of the world stirs.

always forget how good Peter Green was until I listen to him again. Had feeling in his playing. A mate was in a cafe in London back in the late 1980s, place is packed, only seat available is the one opposite him. This bloke comes in and asks if he can sit down, so my mate says yes. Then he looks up, sees the blokes face and says 'Aren't you Peter Green? 'Yes I am' replies Green 'Do you still play?' asks my pal. Green holds out his hands showing that his fingernails are all at least an inch long and says 'Obviously not.' Change of pace now: copier coller clavier
