Greetings, Knuckledraggers!
Having sworn on oath that I was going to completely walk away from vinyl, especially the modern mis-pressed, over-baked and fucked-up variety, I've had to do an about-turn and raid Mrs. Stevie's Bingo Tin to fund the following purchases:
Prefab Sprout - 'Swoon', 'Jordan - The Comeback', 'From Langley Park To Memphis' and 'The Best Of - A Life Of Surprises'. Fucking stunning re-mastered releases of some of the Sprouts finest moments. Jordan, finally given the breathing space of a 2-disc format, is a thing of aural magnificence. I'm sure my left ear spunked-up before 'Wild Horses' played through. I'm praying their other titles get released.
Focus - 'At The Rainbow'. Lovely re-mastered re-issue from MOV on yellow vinyl, and limited to 500 copies only. Get onto Burning Shed now to avoid disappointment.
The Portraits - 'For Our Times'. The brilliant eighth studio album from these socially-responsible Alternate Folksters. Over time, they have become great friends of mine. They once performed a legendary charity gig at Chez Stevie and the local rozzers were kept busy for months afterwards. Wonderful!!
Elton John - 'Diamonds'. I really don't have much truck with this fat, warbling four-eyed F#ck, but I managed to bag one of the HMV limited coloured vinyl versions and decided to go for it. It's a decent career retrospective, and sounds pretty good. You never know......ownership of this might get me laid one day.
Arcade Fire - 'Everything Now'. Okay, okay......better late than never. But this is a stunning Japanese version and was worth the wait. And the expense.
Over and out.

Who the F#ck are you trying to kid? I heard all about the 'Barbed Wire Incident' from your National Service days.
Don't you mean 'nut' as in the singular sense?

I daren't even think about thinking about what I've bought in the last month let alone write it down... Includes the Beatles 50th, Blue Note Tone Poets, Blue Note 80th's, 9 or 10 Dylan and more... Each month I promise I'll rein myself in a bit.....

Oh and what's more, my wife would probably have a moan if she knew how much I'd spent but she'd go into a tail spin if she realised that most of the Dylan I've bought this month I already have. More than once too in some cases....

That was the first in the jazz series that was released as a monthly magazine when the vinyl revival started.

That was the first in the jazz series that was released as a monthly magazine when the vinyl revival started. Your talking about the D'Agostini Jazz 33 1/3 series released a year later in 2016, although nothing at all wrong with theses I have Mile's Sketches of Spain that I picked up at a fair for a few a pound and for the money they are pretty decent and I think you'll find Kind of Blue was first in the series. Where as this is the Blue Note 75th Anniversary release remastered from digital tapes by Alan Yoshida at JVC Mastering, I picked this up on eBay opened and played once. I've bought a couple of these over the past few years and though not the same quality as the other more vastly expensive remasters released over the past 10 years they can be not a bad alternative if your not prepared to pay silly money. In my opinion the so called vinyl revival frowned upon by so many on these forums has been fantastic for the music and hifi industry and so in turn for us the enthusiasts because the variety of vinyl and the gear to play it on has more than quadrupled over the past 5 to 10 years of course there is lots of bad quality products being released to cash in but there has also been an upsurge in high quality gear too. I have no problem with young hipsters who don't have a turntable buying records any more than middle aged men returning to buying vinyl both have their place and both in their turn improve the market for all of us.

Of course where I can I'll be a much earlier used pressing or one of the Music Matters, Classic Records, Analogue Productions or even the very recent Tone Poet 80th Anniversary series but there are certain titles like Blue Train that just go for prices way above my buying power and so I'll then buy the best modern reissue I can. Not all new vinyl is crap some is worth the price asked.

Yeah , I didn't mean that pressing , just the recording. Thre vinyl revival thing would have been better if stores like HMV didn't sell Crossley fucking Cruisers ! That did a lot of damage to vinyl credibility among the young market in my opinion.

Agreed those Crossley things are really fucking awful and you are right if you thought that was how vinyl reproduction souded it would put you off.
