"Finally got my inheritance money - only took 6 months". Very pleased for you, so now I'm hoping you can help me out with a £2000 loan, my girlfriend's family buffalo has just died, her granny is very sick hospital and not only that the roof's leaking. Thanks in advance. Enjoy spending it. Hahaha

Now if you had said that YOU were pregnant from a one night stand with the Pope then I mnight have considered it worthy

After that 3 long hours of feckin pantomime with the bank on Monday, they have blocked our cards AGAIN today This is despite me telling them in great detail what I planned to spend this week. Today the missus and I drove all the way up to the top end of Somerset to collect a car and stuff me we stopped at a greasy spoon for a coffee to discover the cards were blocked yet again.

Oh lord.. that would do my head in. Much sympathy If I might make a suggestion..? Go and get an iPhone and link your card to Apple Pay Couple of years ago I was trying to collect my car from the dealer and I ballsed up my PIN number in my debit card. Guy said I would have to come back after the weekend to collect even if I did a bank transfer. Just as I was walking away I remembered I’d liinked my phone to my bank.. and bugger me, £15k pinged straight away.

They might have 'cocked up', but they have got you by the short and curlies really, what can you do, change banks and you've got the hassle of sorting out all the different transactions made every month, and really you're jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. Good luck in sorting it out, but a bit of understanding on your part may get better results.

Good luck in sorting it out, but a bit of understanding on your part may get better results. It is part of the algorithm built into their software to detect large inputs and outputs of money, so little point in going to another bank as they all use it now.
I have the direct number to the fraud team who will easily unlock the cards. Saves going through their customer services people, which is the longest route to take.

This happened to one of my brothers, he was looking at watches and decided on the spur of the moment to buy a Tag - £800. This was in a shop, not on line.
goes to use the card again later in the day and it's blocked. 'Unusual spending.'
The irony is that he actually works for the bank in question. Not sure exactly what he does but he's got a secretary so he must be quite high up the food chain.

I almost bought two Télé ECC83s on eBay. I put a bid in, then realised they were only 90%. I got outbid in the final seconds.
Phew...

I've been successful a couple of times more recently, putting in a bid quite early for as much as I want to pay, if I win I've got a bargain, lose, there's always more coming along. In the past I've waited till the last few seconds, I'm always outbid, suppose some people use these bidding machines or whatever they are.

I decide what the maximum I will pay is then I bid that in the last 30 seconds - even if it is way over what the bid is currently at. That usually works.
I only got in a proper bidding war one time, for a minty Linn LK1 in original box. I got it but paid about £20 more than my maximum. I prefer to buy on forums mostly though.

Don't get me started on the debit cards being blocked!
One of the business amex was blocked for a payment to a German bank, despite us doing exactly the same transaction last months for the same amount and the previous eight months!!!
I understand the card companies wishing to careful and looking out for fraud, however there has been a bit of a pattern there lol
Just EMC testing the new standard in power supplies (bold claim I know!, but we are very confident about these new designs)now incorporating a full dual differential A/C line filter, quality dc blocker and programmable soft start for various applications up to 10amps 240Vac, sailing through the class A by a significant margin.
Later some listening top a new dac!

To be fair Oli Amex is very useful simply as it allows for rewards, settling company accounts this way does have benefits, as I have mentioned before we all pay bills, it just seems they are more digits on the ones I settle
Done with the fast cars, big houses, six+ holidays a year and usual dinner party b/s a long time ago. My only vice is test equipment these days and you could say I am a bit of a probe whore
Hey my daily driver is a six years Citroen Berlingo, works just fine for me, warm and 50+ mpg and you can get a pair of Quadral Vulkan's in the back as well, what's not to like
A new test piece of bench porn last week, a new clock design being benchmarked currently

I did try and programme Defender (sorry Oli before your time lol)but it didn't quite pan out Martin!

I've got Defender on my AracdePro. I used to be good at it back in the day but it's shocking to learn how badly the reflexes diminish over 35 years. Even when you can practice as much as you like for free.

Don't think your 'mucky mags' would do much for me MisterC. Alright then I'll ask the question, no one else seems interested, or they wanted some other fool to ask first, when are you going to spill the beans on this new dac then.

Today I am feeling well chuffed. My BB3 is sounding great with the cheapest valves I have fitted in it. The plan is to get as many hours as possible on the unit now.
